Southend

Recommended Posts

Just got my tickets for Southend away on the 1st December :) Anyone ever been to Roots Hall? What''s it like? This is my first away game for nearly two years and first time I have used the Club Canary travel! Do you get time to chuck a couple of pints down ya'' neck before kick off? Anyone else going?Enough questions for one post I think...

im willing to bet it will also be the LAST time you use club Canary travel too.. it will get you there about 10 minutes before quick off... buy a beer in the ground and neck it.

also, take some loud music to drown out the teenage chavs on the bus who think shouting, throwing things and acting like plebs is funny.

Play the sweepsteak, dont tip the driver. and pull Gus Georges moustache when he walks past.

Just thank god its a short journey!

I''m willing to bet it will also be the LAST time you use club Canary travel too.. you actually get there at least an hour before kick off, plenty enough time to get a couple of pints down you, but you know, we can always exaggerate and pretend you only get 10 minutes.

oh an by the way, take some loud music to drown out the moody old farts who can''t handle it if somebody sneezes, coughs, moves or makes noise in any way [;)]. Also, if you''re under 18 years of age, beware as they automatically hate you as they do tend to stereotype youngsters.

Play the sweepstake (it''s a silent game, they don''t mind this), don''t tip the driver (dropping coins onto coins creates noise), and pull Gus''s (who is a bit of a hero should you get on his bus) - but make sure it''s only lightly as if you pull it too hard, he may squel in pain, creating yet more noise.

It''s a good job it''s just a short journey ...

At Leeds and Brentford we arrived at 6 for a 7.45 kick off so plenty of time to explore the pubs (especially the ones at Brentford as there''s one on each corner of the ground). You do get some funny people (like the time I was sat next to a paranoid schizophrenic (allegedly)) but it''s luck of the draw really, most of them are fine. And I always tip the driver but that''s just me...

Never had any problem with CC except for 1 game. Sheff. Wed a couple of years ago, we arrived 10 mins before KO due to the driver going the wrong way, ending up in rotherham and doncaster, at the same time people on other coaches had been at hillsborough for an hour. other than this the journeys have been fine including the mammoth trip to PNE last year. Gills trip was best though!

If you want info on the ground and where to drink etc use: http://www.footballgroundguide.com/Everything on there for you to read.Never seemed to have any problems myself using CC as an under 18, but then again i was on a bus full of the younger "plebs" as some would put it. Have always arrived at the ground with plenty of time to spare!
A127 - took for ages at about 10mph all the way. Guess I could have use da longer route on smaller roads. Just assumed last time the main road in was the best option
I live in Billericay, both the a127 and a13 will be a nightmare with communters coming home from London. Your best bet is certainly public transport (not often I say that!!)

I got my ticket yesterday! Paid for it after sweeping a steak on a cabbage and winning 25 quid on Tuesday night[Y]

Was a great atmposphere last time and a great game. Just like watching Brazil the according to our fans but Worthy just saw flicks and fanny''s [:O][;)]

I shall be travelling on the cabbage too. So I''ll be expecting a nice quiet journey there and back without disruptions from youngsters like Shaun and Angus George (M''lord)!

Otherwise...

[8] Well this could be the last time
This could be the last time
Maybe the last time
I don''t know. Oh no. Oh no

[:|] Have you been at the Theakston''s Old Peculier again?

General advice: don''t go down the seafront if wearing colours.

Roots Hall is a typical old style lower League ground in that its cramp, old yet can produce a good atmosphere with the low roof!

Club Canary or the Cabbage as its known to regular is the cheapest way to get to away games unless you''ve got a car/ mini bus full!

Yes going a long way on a bus with 50 odd others isn''t always ideal and their are some plebs who go on them but most of the time isn''t as bad as what some of the snobs who slate it make out!
