why only 1.2m?

if we got 20 odd million in summer and spent only 3million on transfers, why do we only have 1.2million left? i know there are players wages etc but i cant see how we can be left with only 1.2?

can somebody help me please?

It all adds up and you don''t get that £20 million in one go. I get the impression we have more than 1.2 to spend but you can''t go out and say that otherwise you end up paying more for players than their worth

Never had 20 mill to start with minus debts,overheads,wages etc you finish with another imaginary figure of 1.2 mill .Remember when you buy something and you have a tenner in your pocket you always tell the vendor you only have a crumpled fiver!

I have no idea either especially when you consider that the only reason there is 1.2 Mil is because the fans didn''t cash in the shares.

I could start ranting about how the club hasn''t taken the idea of the premier league seriously and that our purchases to date have been a joke. Not to mention the fact that we have had to wait nearly 10 years to get back here, yet have not invested anywhere near as much as out rivals but I''d have to go lie down in the darkened room again.

i can only guess the corner infills, wages [which will have no doubt increased hugely given our summer signings], and the growing medical bill have eaten a lot of money.

i still think that the quoted £1.2m figure is the sum left taking into account some deals which have been pre-arranged.

plus remember also that it is of upmost importance that the club don''t spend willy-nilly, a large part of that £30m (?) will be tied up in longer-term investments, or just to provide a decent buffer zone, paying off existing debt, etc etc.

it is rubbish!! we had 900k bids for jonaton johansen turned down and that was before we sold mackay for 250k and got money from shares! i think the real number is closer to 2.2million than 1.2million!!

I have to agree with KeelansGlove. I don''t think things have been taken seriously. Why only on Tuesday did Worthington say "we have to start thinking". We are half way through the season for goodness sake.We are in the Premier League NOW, so lets do everything we can to try and STAY there (without going massively into debt of course!!)

I was just about to say that the money we got from West Ham for Mr Mackay seems to have disappeared...he must have been on fairly decent wages too I would''ve thought.

This latest "outburst" from Worthington is a painfully obvious smokescreen.

 

Do not be fooled!! First he says - "We don''t have the money for bla bla bla" then he says "It''s great for the kids to come in, but we can''t do that for four or five months".... so what are we going to do then Nigel?? Magic some senior players into the club?

I think Midland makes a good point.  When the window slammed shut over the summer, we were desperately trying to get a striker.  JJ and Scowcroft were mentioned officially.  Say we offered 500K for one of them, surely this has to be added to the 1.2M?  The 1.2M is only the money saved by the share issue.  Where''s the rest gone?

I remember clearly and quote Neil Doncaster when he said the shares totalling 1.2 million would be ''added'' to the transfer funds for January.

I know the club is thinking long term but it will hit us hard playing Championship football next season. And who is to say we will get promoted again straight away. Look at Leeds, Leicester and Wolves!!!

Sometimes, you have to speculate to accumulate and we did this in signing Huckerby, Crouch and Harper. That was ambition. I am not saying spend, spend, spend but if we want to stay in this league, we are going to have to do something pretty serious in January.
