Attendance for Swindon...Is it really going to be this much?

Recommended Posts

If there''s less than a hundred seats avaliable they will probably all sell before the match so I''d guess we may get close to or above 25k depending on how many tickets Swindon don''t sell.

I''ve heard Swindon have taken 1,300 tickets but are nowhere near selling them all. should be a few hundred empty seats in the away end and with the segregation i''d say there will be about 24,500 there on saturday

I find it frustrating that we give a fair amount of the ground to the away teams, but they rarely sell out and we then have to have a massive gap for safety reasons. Saying that I don''t think that there is anything else that can be done or anywhere else they can be seated, maybe if they hadn''t built that stupid hotel....

It''s as close as a sell out as we can get. 56 tickets left + few executive seats. If Swindon sell a few more than the 400 they have could easily be a 25,000 crowd.

Shame we didnt hold a few more tickets back. Could have given them just the end section of seats (700) and sold more to our fans

Only seats together are the £30 ones in the Top of the Terrace. I''ve just bought a couple for family members.

Ticket office said there would be no more becoming available for home fans. So I''ll be rather annoyed if there is vast swathes of empty "cheap" seats in the away end section...

I''m just talking about giving these little away teams too many tickets. Unless it''s Leeds, we should be very careful about what we give these tinpot teams as half of them have eyes bigger than their stomachs...

This is slightly off topic but one of the reasons for not having an infill between the jarrold and barclay was crowd segregation right. Look at white heart lane old trafford etc all have fans in the same stand and not a lot inbetween. I believe the aviva comunity stand is about 1800 seats another one of those then move the away fans into it. If tickets are selling out against swindon in league one im sure at the top of the championship against a west brom or similar could get mid 30k?

I''m travelling up with 3 Swindon fans who are paying on the day. Hard to therefore tell how many others will do the same but I''m sure there will be plenty of empty seats in the away end.

At a Board Q&A a couple of years ago a question was asked about the away allocations at Carrow Road, and we were informed that procedure was for the away club to ask for what they wanted, up to a their allocation maximum which was 2100 or (c 1400 now)

Up to two weeks before the game the away team would confirm how many they wanted, which meant that some tickets could be sent back and these could be sold on to home fans. We would charge the away fans for what they requested regardless of whether they were sold as we could sell the tickets on to casual home fans.

When City travel to away grounds where one end is away only this restriction cannot be imposed as the fans cannot be segregated, but I believe we have been subject to this when we have travelled to grounds which are at or near capacity.

Whether we are now in a position as a League 1 club to impose these restrictions on other clubs, who may bring only a couple of hundred fans, I don’t know. Perhaps others posters may know this. If there is a huge gap between the away fans and the home fans tomorrow I’d be interested to know if Swindon have paid for these or we are now not allowed to move the big green plastic barrier along to accommodate more home fans.

As an aside, a couple of years ago, this did cause a big problem for the Southampton fans as City were due to play them on the last home game of the season. When Southampton were asked how many seats they wanted, only a few hundred were requested a as they were well away from the play-offs, but by the time the game came round they had won quite a few in a row, and if they beat us (they did 1-0 as I recall) it was highly likely they would make the playoffs. Of course when our game became crucial for them all the away tickets had been sold, and the seats near the away fans had been sold to City supporters. The Southampton fans were not happy at all about this. Even then Southampton were in real financial trouble and they could not risk accepting another 1000 or so tickets, and the potential £25000 liability to sell them on.

Away clubs are given X number of tickets to sell on behalf of NCFC and the Away club only get a tiny percentage (5% I think) of the price of each ticket to help cover their admin costs. They return the tickets they can''t sell. There is nothing in it for the Away club it''s more of a favour to NCFC.

Yes Away clubs are given an inital allocation and it depends upon inital demand whether or not they get given the extra 700 to sell for NCFC, or if NCFC sell them to NC fans.

It would be interesting to know how many fans each club has brought so far this season.

I counted them on the online ticket site, though I''m not the brightest so might have got it wrong!

It is going to be roughly 6000 more than Keane''s £20m squad managed to attract the other night in the division above us. Shame on little Town!

A complete sell out - home and away sections - is just over 25,500. That was the sort of gate we achieved in the Premiership against the likes of Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, when tickets were like gold dust and impossible for the casual supporter to obtain, unless they had the right connections, of course. Similarly we have had attendances of 25,500 and a bit versus Ipswich in the Coca Cola Championship. I would expect to see this kind of attendance when we play Leeds at Carrow Road later this season.
