PAULTON ROVERS AWAY

Recommended Posts

i will be disapointed if the tie is not played there. this is (not meaning to sound patronising) probably one of the biggest games in the club''s career and they deserve to have the game played at Winterfield Road. i don''t care if we can''t take too many fans this is their moment and i hope it''s not ruined by having to be played at another ground

And also playing Paulton at Paulton is a potential banana skin, for these reasons:The pitch has a notiable slope, open to the elements, the Paulton side have, in my opinion, one of the best keepers at lower level football. Five or six other players that would not be out of place in the Conference South and very Small team facilities. But in your favour, if you can''t get tickets go down to somerset, bring your binoculars and stand on the slag heap which over looks the ground, this is a left over from the days when Paulton was at the heart of Somerset Coal Fields. Yesterday there was on Paulton suppourter with binoculars stod on the slag heap watching the game (all to save £7). Slagheap Co-Ordinates for Google Earth lat=51.3032912368, lon=-2.4919883928
Fantastic draw, my old man lives half a mile from there. Got to be moved to Bris Rovers or City. I got season ticket and ten stubs from last season but even so dont much rate chances of getting a ticket if they decide to play at there ground.
Slight problem with moving it to "Bris Rovers" as you put it Shaker, they have been drawn to play at home in Round one as well.
The Paulton chairman has been on and says the authorities may not allow the game to be played at their place, would it be moved to Ashton Gate? Would certainly allow us to take a far larger following but does lose the feel about the cup
Any idea how they are allocating tickets yet??  I went to watch Paulton V Chippenham yesterday.....and still have my stub!!
Blimey, less than to hours since the draw and you honestly think that the two Clubs secretaries and the local plod have been in contact to discuss ticketing arrangements and safety and security issues? All that can be said for sure at this stage is that under FA cup rules the visiting club can demand 25% of capacity and 25% of what looks to be 2,000 will give NCFC major headaches in attempting to pacify our 1200 to 1500 away regulars.

According to their web site - assuming they actually stage the game at Winterfield Rd -  it sounds as though you''re in luck ( with conditions ). The good news is that top priority willdaybe given to those with a Chippenham stub.......the bad news is you''ll have to go again on Saturday as they''re giving out vouchers at the Taunton game !!

Thanks, just looked at that.  Was hoping the stub might carry some weight in gaining a ticket.. looks like its stubs plus being a member though which is to be expected...will have to see if they move it first now.

Hardly a major problem that ''Bris Rovers'' are at home as well TIL 1010 is it. Last time i looked the weekend had two days in it. If we are on the telly it would be the Sunday anyway.

We don''t need a full strength team to beat these easily.

im sure they cant move games anymore, or if they can it has to be a neutral venue...... it will be played at Winterton road.. if they do move it then most likely Twerton park...

Im willing to bet they will construct a temporary stand for Norwich...

If it IS being played at Winterton road then im guessing ITV or Sky might have their eye on it....

hope so! I couldnt go if it was at Carrow Road!

Norwich City at Winterfield Road in 1st Round Proper

''Joner'' ecstatic

Weekend 7 or 8 November 2009

The draw for the first round proper of the FA Cup paired Rovers number 78 at home to number 33 Norwich City.

Players and supporters packed the club as the draw was announced.

Full

details for the match will be posted as soon as all issues have been

addressed with the FA, Police, BANES council and our opponents.

The game is probably going to be all ticket. Prices to be confirmed with Norwich and the FA.

Details of when they go on sale will be announced.

Once Norwich''s allocation gas been agreed it is likely that they will be sold on the following basis-

1

Members who have their voucher from entry to the Chippenham game as

well as voucher given at next Saturday''s home game v Taunton Town

2 Members who have Taunton voucher

3 All club members

4 Supporters who have Taunton voucher

5 Then any remaining tickets will go on sale

Please do not ring the club at this stage. Watch this site and local press, radio and TV for details.

A

life-changing experience'' - that is how  Paulton Rovers boss Andrew

Jones has described his heroic side''s forthcoming FA Cup tie against

Norwich City.

Zamaretto League Division 1 South & West outfit

Paulton - the lowest-ranked team left in this year''s competition - are

set to appear live on Sky TV after being drawn at home to the League 1

high-fliers in the first round proper.

And Jones

admitted he was pinching himself at the thought of his minnows taking

on a club which has reached the FA Cup semi-finals on three occasions.

"I

still can''t believe it, it''s an incredible draw," said the boss, whose

side have already dispatched higher-league Newport County and

Chippenham Town to reach the first round proper for the first time in

the club''s history.

"It is one of the biggest games we could have got and we are at home so we could not have asked for anything more.

"It is one of those things you dream about and you hope that one day you will get a taste of that dream.

"This game will be a life-changing experience for the players and the club."

Jones and his players watched the draw live on television at Rovers'' Winterfield Road stadium.

"There

was a big cheer when we came out of the hat at home," said the boss.

"Then there was a ginormous cheer when Norwich came out!

"We

have been earmarked by Sky TV as one of their live games and we are

having a meeting with the FA tomorrow to ensure we can host the tie. We

definitely want to hold it here and we don''t see any problems."

Rovers

are home to Taunton Town in the league on Saturday and are considering

issuing vouchers on the day giving priority to people who want a ticket

for the Norwich game, which will be played the following weekend.

Canaries

manager Paul Lambert - who won the Champions League as a player with

Borussia Dortmund - admitted the tie would be a trip into the unknown.

"We

don''t know very much about Paulton Rovers so we''ll be doing our

homework and preparing for the cup tie as we would any game in the

league or the cup," he said.

"If you take people for

granted in this competition you tend to get punished for it, so we will

make sure we go into the game properly prepared.

"It''s

a first for me as a manager, I didn''t play non-league sides when I was

at Wycombe or Colchester, so it''s a challenge I will be looking forward

to as well, as I''m sure all the players will be."

The

Norwich match will be Rovers'' first against Football League opposition

since 1906, when they lost to Crewe Alexandra in the fifth qualifying

round.

Shirley this doesn’t mean the game will automatically be on the Sunday, could be Saturday 5.30 or even the Friday evening?

Still with the Away Season Ticket a trip to Bristol (or Bath) sounds like a right old jolly!

No, I didn''t think Sky had FA Cup rights either-it was ITV and Setanta, maybe Sky stepped in when Setanta dropped out and became the broadcast partner, though you''d have thought ESPN might have taken on the FA Cup as part of the Prem package they bought up Setanta''s rights?
