Tom 0 Posted January 1, 2005 Yakubu was made to re-take the penalty twice today, both times because Pompey players were encroaching on the penalty area.If they are trying to gain an un-fair advantage by doing this, why should they be allowed to get away with it time and time again. Is there a limit on this or is it another one down to referee''s discretion?Tom
Fozzie 0 Posted January 2, 2005 If the other players (of the team who''s awarded the penalty) enter the penalty area before the ball is kicked, and the penalty is scored, the referee SHOULD call for a retake (they hardly ever do, including rebounds). However, if they miss, then there was no obvious advantage that could have been gained, so should not bother. There''s no limit to how many times you must retake. If I''m wrong blame the FA for not keeping me up to date. The qualification was gained 5 years ago.
