Matt Morriss 69 Posted October 14, 2009 Last goal scored was Bristol''s penalty. Not conceding a goal from open play since the Charlton home game is absolutely superb, and im quite sure were the only team in the country with that statistic. 3 clean sheets in the last 3 games as well.Hopefully it will continue on monday against Leeds as they arent scoring loads at the moment. So what do you think has been the reason for the upturn in defensive performance? Is it the return of Doc or the switch to 433 with Hoola in the hole? Canary_on_the Trent 0 Posted October 14, 2009 It''s actually not conceded a goal from open play in 5 games if you include the JPT game.

You can see the change in the organisation of the back four.Coupled with Crook finally getting a midfield that protects the defence and plays the ball to team mates rather that a hoof to the oposition. This allows the attcking play we have seen without compromising the defence. The organisational ability of Lambert brings the whole thing together into a more secure unit and makes the most of the "talent" available to them. John 0 Posted October 14, 2009 I think Leeds are supposed to have only conceded one goal from open play all season (and that was against Liverpool).
ZLF 261 Posted October 14, 2009 I dont think Crook has much to do with the first team does he?However it is a case of the team now defend as a team, with real midfield protection in front of a more disciplined back 4, which has also benefitted from a change at right back. The value of decent coaches - who would have thought it..
