ron obvious 1,711 Posted October 17, 2009 Anyone know anything about their 2-2 draw with Arsenal? Sounds like a bloody excellent result to me.Frustratingly, the only reports I can find are from Arsenal fans - they don''t even mention the Norwich goals! John 0 Posted October 17, 2009 We beat them 2-1 last season...... Clearly our youth team is going downhill.[;)]
Tim Allman 1 Posted October 17, 2009 I was planning to go to the game as Arsenal''s training ground is only 30 minutes from where I live. I rang Arsenal up to check and was told that the public are not allowed in to watch their youth team!

mnc 0 Posted October 17, 2009 Went to the game today - was a bit of a mad dash as originally told it was at 12pm but got a text at 9 to say it was actually at 11! Got there 15 mins after kick off, thank god for sat nav as you haven''t got a cat in hells chance of finding the training ground without one, there is nothing at all to tell you where it is and it''s only a sign that states players are not allowed to stop to sign autographs at the top of a tiny lane that gives it away. Some of the arsenal squad could be seen having a light training session along with Sol Campbell on one of the nearby pitches. The training ground itself is a bit different to Norfolk Colney - we saw someone had the job of opening the door for players going in and out of the building and when one of the arsenal youngsters was injured a man drove onto the pitch to collect him in a little buggy and then drove him back to the door of the main building! The game itself - Arsenal went 2 nil up in the first half. (not much celebrating from either players or spectators which was a bit strange) The boys gave them too much time on the ball and some of the passing was a bit sloppy going towards goal but after half time they got into the pace of it a lot more. Danny Kelly beat his man to put it in the corner (which revealed many of the spectators to be following Norwich, including Dale Gordon) and then Stephens was pushed up into midfield and scored a stunning strike to equalise from outside the box late in the game. Cue mass celebrations with all the players piled on top of each other and the fans again showing the arsenal spectators how to support their team. Was a great fightback from the lads, especially with so many regulars presumably going with the first team tomorrow. (Francomb was a notable absence) Arsenal may be a team of expensive, tall, quality youngsters but our lads seem to be a real unit together if that makes sense. paul moy 235 Posted October 18, 2009 I''m feeling extremely optimistic regarding the next few years for Norwich, especially with the new Premiership rules that are coming in next season whereby 8 players in the squad must be home-grown. This will further enable Norwich''s ability to compete with Premiership teams once we get there, and I can see us doing that within three years under Lambert. http://www.eatsleepsport.com/hull-city/brown-on-rule-changes-947065.html

Bill 1,788 Posted October 18, 2009 It does give lie to all those endless nonsense posts about how the club was being ran. Clearly something correct has been going on regarding the youth setup.this can be seen by the U18''s, the goalies that have/and are coming through and the youngsters being up to playing in the first team. Sure it can be argued that it is always going to be easier to make the step up to League 1 than it would be to the Championship, but we currently have at least a half a dozen home grown players that are in the first team on merit - and I''m not including Russel and Cureton.Something else must be working well as we are virtually selling out week in week out, with a season ticket base that some Premiership clubs would die for. Yep, I''m not detracting from our great support but maybe some of the whingers and whiners on here might just start to give a bit of credit where it is due rather than constantly posting worthless tosh.ps yes, I know a few of the ''regulars'' aren''t City fans so maybe it might be an idea to just ignore them
Canary_on_the Trent 0 Posted October 18, 2009 It''s a great achievment being joint top of the Southern section of the acadamy Premier League when you consider how many eligibleplayers they''ve lost to senior committments. Rudd, Smith and Adeyemi haven''t featured at all, Stephens and Francomb have both missed a few games and Jed Steer has been injured. The future certainly is bright.
