Devils Advocate. 0 Posted October 2, 2009 How many times over the last few years have we felt jealous about a Club undergoing a takeover?. Ipswich, Portsmouth, Notts County, Newcastle, West Ham, Sunderland, Darlington, Man Utd, Liverpool, the list goes on and on but to me it seems that apart from Man Utd and Sunderland the takeover has not benefitted the club at all. Man Utd have gone from being maybe the richest club in the world to being saddled with an enormous debt although it seems to be serviceable. Portsmouth having been taken over by a rich Arab now find themselves on the point of going into administration or being taken over by the Premier League. Notts County thought that every day would be like Christmas once they had been taken over, but despite employing Sven Goran Ericson have found the going tough. It seems to me that the only succesful takeover was at Fulham, who rose from the old Div 4 to the premier league with the aid of Mohamed Al Fayed''s money. Possibly the Peterborough takeover may well rival the Fulham success, but time will only tell. Now that the possible Michael Foulger takeover at Norwich seems to have been put on the back-burner or back in the deep freeze, we can only hope that should we ever be taken over, it will be by someone a lot less dodgy than those at Portsmouth or Notts County. Allez17 0 Posted October 2, 2009 Munto at Notts were always shady - whats happening there is no surprise. It is a case of, be careful what you wish for, though.
nutty nigel 7,509 Posted October 2, 2009 It''s strange what some fans wish for and are jealous of. Back in August posters on here were wishing for administration and were jealous of Southampton.Have clubs who went into administration ever really been succesful again? Allez17 0 Posted October 2, 2009 The tools wishing for Administration need a wake up call, and they certainly wouldn''t be wishing for it if their employment was in any way related to the club.
Barclay hero 0 Posted October 2, 2009
The tools wishing for Administration need a wake up call, and they certainly wouldn''t be wishing for it if their employment was in any way related to the club.
Agreed. Money is not the main issue outside the Prem - otherwise QPR would have walked off with the title last year. Man Management and team togetherness works more in the lower leagues.Up in the Prem, money DOES talk - how many Champ League standard players will join a club UNLESS theyre earning megabucks or have the chance of going into the champions league? As for Administration - anyone that thinks this is a good idea with all the uncertainty, doubt as to whether your club will even survive, needs their head testing. The likes of Cam know what its like to see your club go to the borderline of going out of business - we dont want that here
Tangible Fixed Assets anyone? 0 Posted October 2, 2009 John Morlar stated:''it seems that apart from Man Utd and Sunderland the takeover has not benefitted the club at all.''--> Aston Villa are doing well under US ownership. Probably the best takeover of all in terms of value for money etc.--> Stoke City--> Birmingham City--> Hull City
