If you want a clap for writing maybe you should submit it to a newspaper. Sometimes they pay and getting paid for a piece is the ultimate reward and a way in which you can judge your worth to society.

You seem to be doing quite well in what is the worst time I have known in this business in 53 years.  You might it find helpful to concentrate more on the Sundays who don''t have the same input as the dailies - a different or slightly more reflective (or quirky) take on things as well.  There is not so much competition for the Sunday market.

Well done anyway.  Keep going!
Thanks Cam. It''s a difficult job to get into, currently i am at the News of the World but hopefully i might get the opportunity to go back to the mail. For some reason the mail is one of the only papers that is still employing at the moment. Like working for both, although i guess you get to do more day to day stuff on a daily. On the sunday''s your week sort of starts on weds... As someone starting out in journalism, I am eager to work every day going. James

the only thing that Clarke said of any interest is that it looks as though Upson could be very much there for the taking. I think Zola and co are trying to sort a new contract for him as they know Upson has teams who are keen. They''ve already had to sell Collins to bring a player in. You never know... the same with Upson... they need to the money at the moment... could someone come in for England''s No1? If Green is sold, it could be very good for us. Reading between the lines of what Clarke was saying, the Hammers need some money soon or it could be a garage sale at Upton park.Doubt i am telling you anything new here at all...  and i know it has nothing directly to do with Norwich, but i found it interesting listening to how close some prem clubs are to being in trouble.

James
How did you get into Sports Journalism mate, I''ve finished uni in July, and I''ve always been interested.
hi NCFCstar, i started by writing this blog which then gave me something to show to editors etc of newspapers. I basically then begged, pleaded and tried to use any connections that i could. After a while, someone will give in and give you work/exp. from that i worked my socks off, got stuff published and then have gone from there. Currently i am doing a fast track NCTJ course. This is your best way in. On this course you''ll learn t line shorthand, journo law and the rest. Really worth looking into. Journalism can be a hard slog and you''ll prob never be rich but from what i can tell it''s well worth the effort. I really cannot put across enough how feels to enjoy what your doing for a job. I hated my previous job. The money etc was great but it left me feeling bored, depressed and unmotivated as i didn''t enjoy it... Journalism however, although in some ways is a lot harder profession, its a lot more rewarding. Go for it!

If you need any help or other info pm me and i''ll help if i can. Also maybe PM Cam? He seems very exp in journalism and i am sure he''ll be happy to pass on info he feels might help.Good luck. James

[;)]
It''s very true. I have had an ''in'' into journalism (although i can tell you, in a way it''s made it harder) but at the end of the day you need to be good enough or you''ll be found out and cast aside. I have made sure that my knowledge is just as good if not better than the people i have been working with. Most people have a fair knowledge of the game but you need to study... really study into all parts of the game and other sports. That might just give you an edge over another applicant. If you can get work exp and impress then you''re more likely to get asked back.My ''in'' was with the news of the world where i am working a day a week at the mo. However where i have had most success and more stuff published is the Daily Mail. Here i made sure i worked my socks off, did everything and more that they asked for and it actually got me a couple of weeks paid work from them.So many people try to get into journalism, especially sports journalism. It helps if you know someone, but what really helps is having an absolute determination to succeed. If you want it enough you''ll get there. Same applies as i said to NCFCstar. Look into doing a course and if you have any Q''s i am happy to answer them so PM me. james.
