Huckerby hip saga continues

Huckerby said three weeks ago that his hip was still causing him problems and that he was concerned about it.

On the day the Earthquakes acquired central defender Bobby Burling from Chivas USA, the biggest development involved club star Darren Huckerby.

The English left wing is getting his troublesome hip examined in Colorado, a team spokesman said Friday. No further details were released.

The team''s best player last season, Huckerby has missed a handful of matches this year because of a thigh injury. He said in June that he also needed to resolve a hip problem in the offseason.

The 6-foot-5 Burling, who has played for Chivas for three years, underwent ankle surgery in the offseason and hernia surgery in March. He has played in three matches in 2009. The Quakes sent a third-round draft pick to Chivas in a move that signals the end of Fabio da Silva''s brief tenure. The team had to sign da Silva, from Brazil, to bring him to San Jose as a trialist.

But coach Frank Yallop has been satisfied with the recent play of central defenders Jason Hernandez and Brandon McDonald.

Also, Aaron Pitchkolan, who suffered a left-groin injury in July, is about to return.

"They ain''t coming out any time soon," Yallop said of Hernandez and McDonald. "It will take a while to break into those two."

I remember the blind faithful on here a few months ago shooting down in flames some people who suggested his injury might be too serious for him to ever return to city.  No, no, no screamed the blind, he will be back , it will clear up.Thank god we can all just forget the nonsense about the guy coming back and remember the good times.

I wonder if people still want Hucks back.. he''s past it! if we re-signed him the first had tackle he faced would put him out for months!

lets put the "hucks coming back" stuff to bed now...

it would  be a huge waste of money in wages and treatment when he is constantly crocked.

Also the culture has changed I believe.  I find it hard to picture McNally and Lambert buying into the "romantic return."   Doesn''t sound like their sort of book to me...............

HE CAN STILL COME BACK!!!!

The bloke has had a niggling hip injury all season. He has now had an operation while there is a 3 week break over there. Even with this injury he has been playing well and scoring! His last match for San Jose is October 24th and now hopefully after this latest operation, it will fix his hip. Then yes he can come back here and easily do a good enough job for us in League 1.

Hucks would only come back if he felt he knew he could do the job anyway.

Hucks would have been back here if Gunn was till in charge, and I know that for a fact. Lambert on the other hand will want his own men and wont want to rake up the past.

I really hope people will now stop harping on about getting him back in a couple of months now.

Although no one can dispute that he was treated awfully, I would rather remember the good times and not have those memories tainted by a comeback in league 1

It''s good that he has decided to get the op done as it surely increases his chances of coming back to Norwich at the end of his season in the US. Even though he has been suffering this injury for three seasons or so, he has still been one of the most effective players there. I certainly believe that if he makes a full recovery to fitness, he can do a good job here in Div 1 as a player.

Anyone that thinks that Huckerby at 70% of what he was in his prime playing on a pay as you play deal wouldn''t be a n asset to Norwich in League 1 are more delusional than those who they knock for saying that the great man returning would be a good thing!

 

Points to remember -

 

A, Lambert might not want him anyway!

 

B, Mcveigh has done more than OK so far after being given a 2nd chance with us despite being a waste of space last time he played for us in 2007 something that Huckerby never was for us!

 

C, If Hucks is not up to it anymore he would know that before anyone does and wouldn''t want to waste the club time and money!

Not everyone has been happy with Mcveigh! I for one haven''t and I don''t think Lambert is happy either. Why would he be trying to sign Mcnammee if he was?

If Huckerby was to come back, I doubt it would ever have been in a playing capacity.  Under the old regime I think there was a good chance of him taking on a backstage role and being progressed through the club a little like Gunny himself.  Somehow the changing winds at Carrow Road may have done for that one now.
