Duncan 0 Posted September 9, 2004 Great shame to see Malky go - I really liked him. However it cheered me up no end to see a really excellent performance by Jason Shackell for the reserves last night. He won everything in the air, was calm and controlled on the ground and didn''t let the Pompey strikers get a look in. Jason can be a great centre back (not full back!) and I hope he gets a chance sometime to show what he can do in the first team. Other performances of note were from Jim Brennan, Ian Henderson and Danny Crow. The latter two caused the Portsmouth defence all sorts of problems through the middle and the more I see of Crow, the more I am impressed.
XXL16 0 Posted September 9, 2004 Don''t want to compare Malky and Shack but anyway at some time of this season, we should let Shack play to test a bit of Premiership action! He''s young, tall and strong, surely can sort out our lack of pace in the central defence.
Gentleman Jim 0 Posted September 9, 2004 Yes agreed, I feel he should have been introduced into a few games at the end of last season when we were cruising in. At least he should be on the bench soon I hope.
