You say that but how willingly will the owners of Cardiff surrender their club and at what price? You are talking about a club owned by Risdale and that will be challenging for promotion this season having spent some tidy money on players. I can''t see them too willing to part with the club - it would be like selling their success for someone else to gloat about. With Norwich they probably know they have the best proffit margin in that they buy us now and get us to the prem and I wouldnt be surprised if the club''s value tripled.I don''t think it is as clear cut as some may suggest.

I think that we are the most likely of the clubs mentioned, as long as Smith and Jones are prepared to come out and play I would say there''s a very strong possibility they will take over. If it happens it will be a day of relief and celebration for me, maybe then the club will really begin to move forward.

City chairman Peter Ridsdale insisted last night he had not heard directly from Sullivan, who can’t do anything until the Birmingham deal is signed off.

In the meantime, Ridsdale will travel to Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday for further talks with Dato Chan Tien Ghee, the magnate heading up a Malaysian group interested in investing into the Bluebirds.

“If David Sullivan is interested, he only needs to give me a call and we will talk about possibilities,” said Ridsdale last night.

No chance, Sullivan lives in Essex and one of the reasons for him selling his shares in Birmingham was the commuting (his words not a rumour). So Norwich look the better option.

I don''t get this either Baldrick. It must be something about leaving Birmingham that throws logic out of the window. Who else remembers Robbie Savage leaving Birmingham to be closer to his parents in Wrexham by moving further away from them[:S]

I don''t see where Norwich is any more easily accessible from Sullivan''s Essex home than Birmingham is. It maybe a bit closer "as the crow flies" but crows don''t have to negotiate the A11.

I believe the link with Cardiff is because that was where the guy grew up. But the poor old crow would probably have to re-fuel on the way [;)]

Completely agree with your thoughts Chicken. Depends on what their motivations are. Get rich (and successful) relatively quickly - they would surely choose Cardiff, but a longer term challenge with potentially bigger profit margins (and kudos) and it would be us.

However, would they even be allowed to make an offer or even enter into talks. Not sure what the majority shareholders'' views on the Sullivan/Gold empire is, but would make for some interesting comments surely.

Does anyone know if this rumour/story has any credentials at all or is it all a case of a slow news summer?

It''s probably just rumour Gazza. I don''t really see it as "a goer" for the reasons I stated above. It''s a better rumour if we add that the wicked cook dismissed them without even "a good morning" as she didn''t want them to get their grubby hands on her dolls house! [;)]

I don''t think this is a complete lie in all honesty, as mentioned there seems to be some substance to it.

The question is how much??

Wherever he lives in Essex Norwich is quicker to get to, whether it be 30 mins or an hour difference. The only bad spot on the A11 is the bit in Suffolk ( I wonder why?).

I doubt it. I reckon in road distance there''s less than 10 miles in it but little difference in travelling time. Still, if he ends up here we will be able to look up these "facts" to prove him a liar when we want him out[:O][;)]

Nutty, if the reason for an interest in NCFC is just that Norwich is easier for someone to get to than another club then we might as well dismiss it all out of hand now.

I am sure that if this ''rumour'' has any substance then the big players have more on their minds than distance travelled down the A11 (which in a few year''s time is to be fully dualled anyway). IF Sullivan wants to start again at another football club he must surely be considering its potential and offsetting that against cost of buying himself in. IF, that is, he''s even considered as a potential/viable investor.

Gazza - my comments about the distance were in reply to this post from Baldrick.

I remember him saying this at least 2 years ago.  On that occasion his main target was rumoured to be (yes you''ve guessed it) but the Carson Yeung deal stalled and Marcus Evans got in first.

You would be wrong, pull up any routefinder on t''internet, pick a random place in Essex (as we don''t know where his mansion is) and check the travelling time between said random place and Norwich and then Birmingham. Repeat it several times with different locations in Essex and you will see that Norwich is always comfortably quicker.

If Sullivan and Gold HAVE been thinking about West Ham then today''s exclusive in The Guardian about that club''s finances will probably put them off.http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/sep/03/west-ham-financial-crisis-37m-lossUgh.

Cardiff are the next Luton waiting to happen. Ridsdale should never EVER step into another club again.

Something tells me that if Cardiff fail to go up this season, I''m pretty certain they''ll crash and burn quite hard through administration.

Surely the most direct route to Norwich from most of Essex, & in particular Thurrock, is the A12.

I take it you know nothing of his own private jet and Helicopter then he flies the board to all matches so Essex is no problem  f he gets the club he will fly in and out of Colney and have his jet hangered at Norwich, so the A11 bears no rellivance what so ever
