Why did Martin not start?

Chris Martin played well midweek and scored a cracking goal. He should have started ahead of both Cureton and Cody and partnered Grant Holt up front. It is very worrying that Paul Lambert can''t see that Cureton is past it, and shouldn''t even be on the subs bench. For goodness sake give Martin an extended run in the team, and he will score goals from Holt''s flick - ons and his own pace. I think he would have had a field day today against Warsall''s cumbersome central defenders. OTBC

Agreed, why oh why, what does he have to do to get a game? Has he even played a league game yet, (other than the last few minutes)?

TBH while i like Martin, the game today was crying out for Cody much earlier, his pace would and was have been more of a worry for their defense than Martin IMO.

To be fair Martin is the only one who hasn''t had a chance. Martin needs to be given a chance. He has said so himself, he is getting pissed off with the club.

Problem with Chris Martin is that he isn''t suited to playing upfront (I''ve said this a few times before)

So where do you play him?

He''s got talent, there''s no doubt about that.

And you''d also have to wonder if he wants it enough.

Mcdonald should of been up front with Holt but Martin would of been a better choice than the too slow too old Cureton!

tbh I dont think Cody would have much much difference than Cureton,  while Martin may have done.  Was disappointed not to see Martin, but once cody on I would have replaced lappin and gone 4-3-3 instead to try and break them down,  if we are bypassing the middle why keep him on?  esp on an off day

Actually, now i think about it. Martin is better than Cody. Martin is resonably quick, got a good finish and looks to be able to take people on. Cody is very quick, but lacks the other 2 a little bit. Martin should start up front i think! Obviously discounting Doc here. :D
