Should we persist in playing 4-4-2

There seems to be some sort of general feeling that playing 4-4-2 is the best shape for the team. Well i am not 100% behind this idea, we have played 4-4-2 in various guises and look where we have ended up. What would be the harm in trying something a little differant perhaps something like this just as an example
