I said at the start of the season when there was a discussion on here what my cousin (Milly supporter) told me and my friends, don''t come to our ground and be very careful if you go to the Milly match at home.  If I went to the Milly match away and my cousin saw me he would frog march me back to the car lol.

Millwall have always had problems and they won''t ever change, however most of the fans on the pitch last night were West Ham supporters.

I hope both clubs take hard action on those involved for their actions last night, a dsigrace to modern football and something that belongs in the past.
Exactly. But maybe add Birmingham and Leeds to that too.Sorry WAY but that is just scare mongering, I worked for London underground at Surrey Quays for many years and worked 100''s of Milwall matchdays, if you support another London club then you can expect problems otherwise they are not interested. They have no axe to grind with any club outside London and would make us most welcome. I personally am travelling to the Millwall game next year and meeting friends who are Milwall fans before and after the game and have no fear of any problems even wearing our colours. If people go with a bad attitude and taunt the locals then as with every other ground you can expect a problem. But believe me when I say,Millwall fans have no interest in us.
I went to Millwall when we last played them last in the championship. If you get the club coaches down, you get a police escort to the ground, get driven into a metal fenced enclosure, dont come into any contact with any Millwall fan, watch the game, then go back to the bus in the enclosure and go home, no trouble.

For me, what happened last night was always going to happen, thanks to the rivalry between Millwall and West Ham, Hollywoods and certain TV programmes glorification of such rivalries, and the FA poor organisation. Hopefully lessons will be learnt.

Not scaremongering at all, it came from a Milly supporter of 35 years who just so happens to be my cousin.

It''s up to everyone else to make their choices to go down to Milly.  Personally it''s a big no no for us.

So are you saying some of our fans won''t go with an attitude of starting a bun fight because they know the Milly fans will rise to it?

Does he call them Milly as well because that sounds really scary.

Been to Millwall many times. never had any problems. Yes they have more than most who are up for it and if you wander around shouting the odds you will get a smack. You also need to be a bit more careful than most places in terms of where you drink but if you are sensible then there is unlikely to be any major problems unless is a particularly big game with something at stake.

Sounds like your cousin just enjoys playing up to the reputation.

In March 1978, a full-scale riot broke out at The Den during an FA Cup quarter-final against Ipswich. Fighting began on the terraces, then spilled out on to the pitch and into the narrow streets around the ground. Bottles, knives, iron bars, fists, boots and concrete slabs rained from the sky. Dozens of innocent people, real Millwall fans, were injured.

That''s just a small part, have a read, you might find it interesting that the violence isn''t only towards London clubs.  This history goes back a long long way.
what annoys me is football clubs can spend up to £130,000 a week in the prem for a footballer then hold back on spending on policing and stewarding - this point was raised on talksport this morning and is very true.
Ridiculous isn''t it?  I think it should be a compulsary amount each season by each club.

Any trouble in England, no matter how big or small is always deemed as being the worse in the world, look at France and Holland, they have much more trouble, we have attempted to quell the problems and to a certain extent, it has been dealt with. But there is a new younger element who are trying to bring it back to the 80''s.

There is always a small minority who spoil it for us all. Fucking scum.
Unfortunately, I think films such as Green Street have done nothing but sensationalise football violence and made it fashionable again for the younger fans coming through to be football hooligans. These films, however enjoyable, do not help to clean up football violence.

Fortunately, with the exceptions of games like this where there''s always going to be ''scores to settle'' I think the majority of us can avoid trouble at games if we want to. Most is now organised and well away from football stadiums.

No I totally agree, both clubs have to be punished, but the other side of that is why should the real fans be punished by the actions of the idiotic group who call themselves fans? by the clubs being expelled from this competition.

The individuals should be banned for a minimum or 3 years from their own clubs for such actions, and those caught fighting outside nicked and punished by the law, if they are also fans of either side, slap a banning order on them all.

A question, while watching last night, there were fans who invaded the pitch and were just ushered back to their respective stands, why weren''t they arrested?  To only go and invade the pitch again a short while later?  Bloody madness.

other teams fans have been getting away with invading the pitch for years - see just about every playoff game or last game of the season. At the Carra its always been very strongly prevented by the stewards (until recently!).

I hope proper sanctions are taken against both clubs and if found, as it appears, that it was mostly west ham fans then West ham are punished more severly.Proper sanctions are the only way:Both clubs should be made to play home matches behind closed doors in Birmingham/Manchester/Liverpool for the rest of the season. For a particularly guilty club it could be not even consistently at the same ground or city.If one club is more guilty than the other, it could be allowed to play in London.I also think this should be enforced before the end of the transfer window to allow their players to leave if they desire.I am also digusted that West Ham are the club that had a player stabbed last week and now they are stabbing opposing fans.  I hope Davenport will make a statement to shame these people.

Taken from the FA website.

After the events at Upton Park on Tuesday The FA issued this statement.

“We absolutely condemn all of the disorder that has occurred at Upton Park this evening, both inside and outside of the ground.

“We will very quickly be working with all parties, including the Police and clubs to establish the facts surrounding tonight’s events.

“We expect all culprits to be banned from football for life – they have no place in our game."

IMO it is time for the football authorities to get tough West Ham should be kicked out of the competition. It appears that their fans caused most of the problems in the ground and the West Ham players did little to cool the problem by the way they celebrated their goals.

This was always going to happen you only have to see the football factory and Green Street lets hope they do not get Chelsea in the FA Cup.I work in Tunisia and belive me the hooligan culture is "worshipped" here by their football fans my cousin even has a terrible shirt with "UK Football Hooligans" over a union jack. The voilence here at football is much much worse my wife forbids me to even go to the centre of town during mach days and I will never forget the day my car go towed and I saw a dozen burnt out cars in the police car pound.Literally anything can and does happen just youtube CAB for loads of crazy hooligan videos one guy even has a monkey he takes to the games! What you get here is a city larger than norwich with £3 tickets getting less than 6-10,000 a game since nice people do not want to come.If hooliganism comes back due to recession/fashion then football is going to suffer big time.
Unfortunately, fair or not, with Platini and FIFA''s anti-England bias, this will seriously damage the World Cup bid.
the same thoughts went through my mind, which is why I said the FA have got to ban both clubs from this compitition and ban the fans too, It has to be seen by Fifa that the FA have not taken the matter lightly.

Not very friendly for a friendly...

Not sure how many people went yesterday but was wondering who saw the incident outside Weatherspoons on Riverside before the game.
Loads of Utd fans in their early 20''s were gobbing off at some fellas on a stag do dressed in Greek clothes giving it the big ''we''re Man Utd nobody can touch us''!! The Greeks (a mix of Norwich fans and West Ham lads on a stag do) then gave the Utd lads a complete an utter hiding!! I don''t condone violence but my god it was very funny!!
Also had to laugh at the Utd fan trying to get across to the home fans in the 2nd half.
In fact it was more exciting than most things on the pitch!
Is this the same message board which was recently full of apologists for the Norwich supporters imprisoned after the Leicester incident saying what nice, kind and misunderstood chaps they all were????
Completely agree Cambridge, I remember Arthur was very supportive of them.Last nights events are absolutely disgusting.  I hope the repercussions are strong for both clubs, and West Ham should be kicked out of the Carling Cup in my opinion, whether this is the right course of action I am not sure, because I am sure the fans who caused the trouble wont really care.

Most is now organised and well away from football stadiums.

from footy violence, as you mentioned ajax  games. NOW when i lived in holland, I was a season ticket holder at ajax. the only time we had trouble was with feyenoord. As soon as i saw the carling  cup draw, i thought that there with west ham v millwall, i knew would be trouble.
