Allow me.....A football operations manager is in charge of the football operations at a football club, I am not sure if there is such a thing as a football operations assistant so you have to ask ''who is he managing?''.  Sometimes its important to look at the bigger picture....

From what i''ve read he keeps an eye on the academy and reserve sides aswell as the first team.

So for example if he see''s an academy guy he thinks should be moved to the ressie''s or first team he''ll notify the manager.

He''s there so Lambert can focus all his energy on the first team pretty much but at the same time still know whats going on with the rest of the club.
