That settles it, its Lambert then... [:)]Its not the most exciting name, but he has managed to turn a happy shambles at Colchester into something of a unit, as they showed against us.  He''s turned them into a strong side who work for each other, especially away from home (am I right in thinking they were away specialists last year).  We can only guess how he will turn out, as ever, but he''s still a more inspiring appointment than Gunny ever was!

Agreed, he turned them around last year and they ended up with the best away record in the division. Certainly a big improvement on Gunn imo.

Question: Would Lambert be the most highly decorated player to manage Norwich? Looking at his record he has certainly won it all in his time....

I would rather have Curbishley or Coppell, don''t see why we have to choose someone already at a club when that just entails compensation.

I remain far from convinced that sacking Gunn, in the manner and at the point we did, after giving him the Summer to bring in his own team, was the right decision.

But I''d have been pleased enough with Lambert, I think, if he''d been appointed when we sacked Roeder.    First, he does have his coaching qualifications.   Theory doesn''t count for a lot, but it''s a start.  And, he got them in Germany, where (I''ve heard) it''s probably tougher.   Then, he has playing experience at the highest level with Borussia Dortmund and Celtic, as well as at lower levels.   He got Wycombe into the play offs (admittedly, league two) and took them on that cup run, both with very meagre resources.  And even if the 7-1 result was a fluke (perhaps we should hope it wasn''t?) it''s plain that (in this league i.e., league one) he has arrested Colchester''s decline and has turned them into contenders.  Again, on meagre resources.   It''s rumoured that he was so highly regarded in Germany that Bayern Munich seriously considered him for their recent vacancy, though I don''t know if that''s right.

But, all in all, given that Gunn has gone, if we wanted a young manager who is highly regarded, with a track record in the lower divisions of getting into play offs and arresting decline, I guess Mr Lambert fits the bill.  And no, he doesn''t have green and yellow DNA.  Some might think that doesn''t matter.  And if it does, he''s assisted by a certain Mr Culverhouse....

How come the ''all seeing all knowing'' CAM didn''t know this yesterday or the day before? It seems even Colchester like to keep him out of the loop.

I''ll be honest i''m just glad we''ve gone about this in the right way,

Not someoneout of work having been sacked by his previous club eg Roeder

Not an Assistant manager being thrown in at the deep end eg Grant

Not an Internal promotion eg Gunn

Not the Manager we sacked 4 years ago eg Worthy

but we, Norwich City, have approached another club, agreed to pay the going rate for compensation, lured a Manager already employed elsewhere to ''little old'' Norwich and all in the space of a week.

Surely this in itself represents progress.

Cheers CUSDP, no reason to doubt you.Not impressed by this one little bit though, I don''t think he would even have been considered if they hadn''t have trounced us the other week.  I really hope the board have considered this properly and it isn''t just a knee-jerk reaction.

I have also just heard that it is Lambert. Apparently this is what the Aviva Forums are saying.

Surely the fact that McNally knows him well from his time at Celtic is more of a factor than the 7-1 result.  Obviously sounded him out after that game??

Well - if it comes from you CUSDP,  lambert it is.

So why have rotherham reputedly also called a press conference this morning??

To be fair, if you look at his Wiki page (I know its not the most reliable source), he has progressed from Livingston to Wycombe to Colchester and now looks like he will come to us.

With all due respect to those teams surely we are a bigger club and he will see it as furthering his managerial career?
I believe he is ambitious and a manager on the up. This is a much better appointment than the previous 3.
I agree. He''s done good things at all of the clubs he''s been at previously.
Worth sacking Gunn for?I''m not sure.
I do like comments like this.

Gunn had to be sacked. His record over the last seven months was terrible. Regardless of who comes in as his replacement.
I agree(see numerous posts) but is Lambert a big enough name to settle the natives?
