TheCardinal 0 Posted July 23, 2009 Title says it all to be honest. Those signings will give us adequate depth in all positionsGK. Theo, RuddDR. Spillane, SemiDL Wiggins, DruryDC. Nelson, Doc, StefanovicMR. Whaley, Smith,ML. Hoolahan, LappinMC. Gill, Tudur Jones, Hughes, Pattison, AdeyemiST. Holt, Maric, Cureton, Martin, CodyArguably you could have another center back (Askou?) but I think that''s a great looking squad for this league. Good mix of youth and experience with plenty of options. For me, my first eleven would be:TheoSpillane Doc Nelson WigginsWhaley Gill Hughes HoolahanHolt MaricI think that''s as good a first eleven as any in this division. Soldier on 290 Posted July 23, 2009 I would love us to sign that winger from Barnet though then things would be upbeat massive resale potential on his signature
JTG 0 Posted July 23, 2009 Would still like to see a proven right back if at all possible. Also, you have missed McVeigh out as cover for both wings.
McCanary 0 Posted July 23, 2009 I think we may get a third keeper as Steer is still quite young.I also think we may get a couple of loans in but no idea where the priority would be as we seem to be quite well covered all over the park. I suppose that will depend on who is available and whether Gunny feels we could be improved by any of the available bodies.
Tetteys Jig 851 Posted July 23, 2009 i''m happy with the keepers, if askou isn''t demanding too much get him, and then a right back would be nice, just in case semmi doesn''t work. We could always loan one later on tho and give semmi and spillane a go at 1st
chicken 0 Posted July 23, 2009 I can see Askou staying - one year contract with an option of a further year.I say that because whilst Stefanovic is good and may well be fit if he sufferes another injury then it could be game over. On top of that you have the fact that he will not have many years left and it could be he goes next summer. If you are forward thinking that is.
First Wizard 0 Posted July 23, 2009 I know you think I''m a moaner, but imo, this squad will struggle, maybe even get us relegated! have we learnt nothing from doing things on the cheap for the last 5 years or so?I fear for our club, I really do.[:(]
jimidack 0 Posted July 23, 2009 Difference is Wiz, that in the 3rd tier clubs have to be more careful how they spend what money they have. And besides the side that got us relegated last year no longer exists, they all went back to their respective parent clubs and the permanent players have left or are on their way out!We are looking at an entirely different Norwich this season and I for one can''t wait to see how they turn out. But then again I love football and can''t wait for it to come back anyway!
Canary_on_the Trent 0 Posted July 23, 2009 I''d be very confident going into the campaign with that side, perhaps a right back could come in but i think Spillane can do the job
Keith Roads 0 Posted July 23, 2009 I am getting a good feeling about Norwich now - in Hughes the board has sanctioned his wages and we managed to sign him - should be very good in league 1. I think getting rid of Doncaster could see as wanting to get promotion, the new Chief Ex is more of a winner I feel. I know we get money for Clingan and Russell, even so, there are positive signs. Grant Holt would confirm my optimism. We would not have signed him or Stephen Hughes under Doomcaster in my opinion.

Pompey_88 0 Posted July 23, 2009 It''s a very big squad and wage bill, i still expect Pattison to leave and obv Russel and Clingan First XiTheoSpillane Nelson Doc Wiggins Hughes Gill JonesWhaley Hooly HoltI like it
norfolkchance1 0 Posted July 23, 2009 reckon we will see 1 or 2 loans in before the end of the season maybe an attacking midfeilder and a experienced right back.

BobbyLo 0 Posted July 23, 2009 I''d like us to sign the players you''ve mentioned too. However, I''m getting worried that we won''t get Maric now. He should come to us and try to make a name for himself in English football. But because of tax, the euro etc. he''ll be looking for high wages. Plus, Gunn said in the presser that he''s got offers from Championship clubs, along with some in Spain. I think he''ll go where the money is at. Maybe that''s why we''ve been linked with Holt and are going to splash some cash rather than pay the massive wages Maric wants? I really hope both of them sign....but can we REALLY expect that?? Seems a bridge too far for Norwich in my opinion.
ZLF 335 Posted July 23, 2009 The right flanl still looks thin if hughes plays central; Perhaps a season long loan for the right back position is in order?? If we seal a couple of strikers things will look better, but that squad still seems short on quality - and I disagree it looks stronger than last years - stronger in the context of the league we are in maybe but thats it... TheCardinal 0 Posted July 23, 2009
Still a distinct lack of pace in that squad, especially down the left.No pace, no goals.Suggestion - Albert Adomah.
Totally disagree with that. I don''t think that pace is the key ingredient for goals, I think creativity and an ability to take chances. Both Holt and Maric have excellent records, and Hoolahan, Whaley and Hughes will give us the creativity.

Mr. Bump 0 Posted July 23, 2009 You''re going to hinder Hoolahan''s performance if you play him at LM
Yelloow Since 72 56 Posted July 23, 2009 Adomah would be a great signing if the money is there. With his height and pace, ability to play either wing, cross accurately with either foot, he would terrify League 1 defences and could also be a good investment for the future. His present boss also thinks that he could develop into a striker with more experience!http://www.barnetfc.com/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10431~42849,00.htmlCould prove to be a great signing! TheCardinal 0 Posted July 23, 2009
You''re going to hinder Hoolahan''s performance if you play him at LM
Totally disagree. I think Hoolahan played very well on the left under Gunn last season, provided he was given the right to drift when he wanted to.

Wesbian 0 Posted July 23, 2009 For all we know, Gunny may decide to play a 4-3-1-2 formation with hoolahoop behind the front two, he tried that already this pre season and hooly excelled. None of us really know whats going on in that shiny bald head of his, but i think the signs are promising. Maybe when he gets ''his squad'' together, he may want to try the 4-3-1-2 again with the players he likes. Although if this was the case, he probably wouldn''t get in whaley and/or any other wingers. Although it gives us another option and another dimension so surely this is a good thing?I hate feeling optimistic before a season as it almost always explodes in our faces as one ugly yellow and green splodge. But i''m feeling better now than i was about last season or the season before, i agree though with he sign all the players we''re strongly linked to, i will be incredibly happy. But for us norwich fans, its never that simple.
