Downloads 35 Posted July 22, 2009 me head is starting to spin with all this. Surely they can''t both be coming as well as Hughes?
Mr. T 0 Posted July 22, 2009 Norwich are closing in on the double signing of Simon Whaley and Rhoys Wiggins, skysports.com understands. As revealed by skysports.com earlier this month Norwich boss Bryan Gunn has lined up moves for Preston midfielder Whaley and Crystal Palace defender Wiggins to bolster his squad.Norwich are believed to have agreed deals with Preston and Palace respectively for the duo and both players are currently undergoing medicals.Gunn is keen to bring in a new left-back and he feels Wiggins fits the bill perfectly.Preston are willing to let Whaley move on as he does not figure in Alan Irvine''s long-term plans at Deepdale. If both players successfully come through their medicals they could become the latest new recruits at Carrow Road. Canary_on_the Trent 0 Posted July 22, 2009 wow things are really moving now.Wiggins is a Wales U21 international, had a good game against England a few months ago and is very highly rated but suffered a couple of injuries in the past year or 2 that has stopped him becoming a regular at Palace, will provide strong competition for Drury and can play further forward
Mr. T 0 Posted July 22, 2009 Welsh U21 left back, highly rated!
First Jedi 0 Posted July 22, 2009 That would be amazing! Please be true... and if so - well done Gunny!

ncfcstar 342 Posted July 22, 2009 Apparently Leeds were after Wiggins, another player with ruptured knee ligaments though. A regular for Wales U21''s, would be an interesting signing.
Carlos Valderrama 0 Posted July 22, 2009 Its a good start to the summer for me if/when these lot sign on the bottom line. Finally starting to build a squad of our own, decent younger players as well.
ncfc90 0 Posted July 22, 2009 finally a replacement for that pathetic sick note drury.
Nuff Said 5,962 Posted July 22, 2009 Isn''t a right back more of a priority???
Mr. T 0 Posted July 22, 2009
Isn''t a right back more of a priority???
not atall, Spillane!?
ncfcstar 342 Posted July 22, 2009

Isn''t a right back more of a priority???
not atall, Spillane!?
If agree, I think we need another right back. I do not rate Spillane, and I think he and Otsemobor will cause problems for us this season.
ACE 0 Posted July 22, 2009 Spillane and Otsemobor, maybe not the worlds best but both ok and fit.
Isn''t a right back more of a priority???
The Walking Man 13 Posted July 22, 2009
finally a replacement for that pathetic sick note drury.
Pathetic sicknote Drury? Have you only started watching Norwich since last season? Some fans have incredibly short memories, Drury is a former Player of the Year and is the best left back we had since Barry Butler. Canary Man of Kent 0 Posted July 22, 2009 http://www.sportinglife.com/football/nationwide1/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=nonwire_soccer/09/07/20/manual_171636.htmlThis is interesting, Wiggins on a permanent deal would be a surprising one.
Canary_on_the Trent 0 Posted July 22, 2009 I think Mark Bowen might possibly have something to say about that
Mr. T 0 Posted July 22, 2009 Spillane was very good a Luton last season and played a fair share of his games at right back.

Hopefully that will help!
Canary Man of Kent 0 Posted July 22, 2009 Can anyone clarify Wiggins contract position? I understand he''s out of contract but we would have to make a payment of some sort due to his age (these numbers tend to be pretty low as a rule).
Mr. T 0 Posted July 22, 2009 ye he is out of contract but compensation would be due as he is under 24!
Canary_on_the Trent 0 Posted July 22, 2009 As Wiggins is under the age of 24 but has been offered a new contract at Palace we have to either agree a fee with Palace or we sign him and it goes to a tribunal where a fee is then decided. I doubt the figure we''ve agreed is too high, perhaps £150k

nutty nigel 7,902 Posted July 22, 2009 I believe David Williams coaches the Welsh youngsters who play very attractive football as you''d expect. He''d be a good contact for Gunny. Looks like a decent signing to me.
Hog 0 Posted July 22, 2009 If this is true then well done Gunny, I have a feeling that come the start of the season quite a few people are going to be impressed with the squad he has managed to build in such a short space of time.
