Coventry City FC to sign Sammy Clingan

Jul 24 2009

COVENTRY

CITY were today set to make their first long awaited signing of the

summer with the arrival of Norwich midfielder Sammy Clingan.

The

25-year-old Northern Ireland international was at the Ricoh Arena

having a medical today and expected to complete his personal terms

before putting pen to paper on a three year deal with the Sky Blues.

City,

who agreed a fee with the Canaries several weeks ago, are understood to

be making a cash payment up front on the deal that will eventually be

worth £1 million to Norwich subject to the amount of appearances the

player makes.

His signing will come as a huge relief to

manager Chris Coleman who has been trying to sign the central

midfielder all summer, and will go some way to restoring a bit of

confidence among supporters concerned that the club are selling their

best players and not bringing many in.

Danny Fox is the latest to leave the Ricoh and is expected to complete his £3 million move to Celtic in the next few hours.
