My thoughts on the Man Utd game

Just a quick run down on some of todays players,Tudur Jones and Adeyemi looked very good in the middle of the team, Adeyemi could be a class act for us,Hoolahan and Lapin both looked good along with Doc and Semi who looks a few pounds lighter and a few yards quicker than last season,Askou looked solid and should be signed on, Whaley did nothing to shout about but it''s early days,McVeigh was ok and Martin started well but faded along with barn door Jamie,the new trialist Kris BRIGHT wasn''t very, and looked very slow and like a competition winner!!!Holt came on for 10 minutes and he is a big unit,won a few headers and made himself known to the united defense,all round not a bad game and some good players in yellow and green.

Any Thoughts from other fans who went?

Not really. Everybody see''s a game differently. Doesn''t make them any more ''inaccurate'' than anybody elses. Had I have put something like "(insert player name) was useless because i dont like him" then maybe. But I''ve given my reasons. You gave Cureton a 7, I can''t see how in any way Cureton could get a 7 but you''ve given your reasons and you must have seen it differently from me...

But surely only the deluded fail to see their own inaccuracies when those around them kindly point it out.

And to prove I practice what I preach, perhaps a 7 for Jamie was a bit too kind, but he gave his all as far as I could see and was unlucky not to score. Unfortunately those last four words pop up next to his name far too often, but no, i wouldnt start him next season but i would give him a chance at a level in which he is proven.

Commendations to you for accepting my criticism gracefully, PhatCanary. You come across as very sincere and polite person, unlike some I could mention.

It is interesting how people see things differently!!

I wasn''t at the game so can''t really comment in detail, but the main reason for this was that I gave up on friendlies years ago due to being a long distance supporter, and also having the realisation that you can''t read anything into them. For example I saw barn-door Beckford get a stunning hattrick in a matter of minutes in one, and also followed us round losing every main preseason game before going on to our (then) best ever season....

A few comments re: specific players, Whaley won''t have played properly for c2 weeks; Holt has probably not been training much of the week and got barely 10 minutes; Hughes (one of our main signings) wasn''t even on the bench.

We need to see this as very much a ''work in progress'', I''d expect to see a side much closer to the first XI play next week''s game.
