Thoughts as in actually used my brain to consider the situation, instead of looking at the size of our attendances and the size of theirs.....

People have made reference to us being beaten to a player by Brighton, but why not hold judgement until a) Brighton actually sign him and b) We know the fee. If Brighton go and pay 750k for Dickinson, or even 600k for that matter, who are the real mugs? I would say quite possibly Brighton.

Here we have a player with a semi decent / pretty good record in League Two, who didnt do anything in ten games last year in League One (no goals whatsoever).

Is refusing to match Brightons price really a big club being outbid for a player? Or is it a big club not being held to ransom for a player that quite frankly would probably be no good for us next year if we got promoted?

I wouldnt pay a penny more than 350k for a player of Dickinsons calibre, bearing in mind that we could probably get Grant Holt for around 350k - 400k, a player that has scored goals regularly in three divisions.

If Brighton end up signing Dickinson for 200k, and we couldnt match that offer, then yes I will be worried. But if we are talking 500k+ for one half decent player, then I am afraid that I am firmly with Gunn and the club on this one....... Brighton can have him.

He is quite frankly, a player that didnt even score many goals in Sunday League football and had one good season in League Two.

its a joke.....if we want him stump up and pay the money, if we dont then fair enough but they should let us know whats happening.

Being outbid by Brighton is a joke and thats no disrespect to Brighton, but in terms of resources the two clubs are miles apart.

Should be - but you have to realise that Smith & her Board have brought the club to it''s knees, including financially.

Debts of £22m. I would imagine that Brighton are in a much healthier position than us.

May God have mercy on all those that have allowed this club to descend to the level in which we''re losing out on targets to bloody Brighton. For crying out loud.

[/quote]Maybe we didnt think he was value for money? I have no idea what the fee is, but im sure we would have the same outcry if we signed him for 500k and he turned out to be useless.

Oh and we dont think Lee is worth his fee either lol , maybe its best if we do just stick to freebies , they must be worth what they cost .

Also, do you seriously beileve a player is better just beacause he commands a higher fee?

Im all for pushing the boat out when it comes to a quality player such as Huckerby, or what we should have done with Martin Taylor. But on a player who doesnt strike me as anything special? Its interesting to note that Dickinson ''allegedly'' came out and said he was upset with the ''unrealistic evaluation'' Derby put on him.

Soon will have:

Tony Bloom, Brighton & Hove Albion Chairman.

After 12 years in the seat, Dick Knight made way for Brighton fan and professional poker player Tony Bloom to take over the club, Bloom also invested £93m towards building of new stadium Falmer.

At least some people are talking a litttle bit of sense! it''s disappointing yes, but ultimately he''s a player of dubious quality. I would rather we didn''t spend £500000 or whatever the price tag Derby have put him on a 24 year old who is yet to set the world alight and instead went after a striker of genuine talent. More fools Brighton for potentially spending a lot of money (by League one standards) on an  average player.

Didn''t Huddersfield get a 750,000 bid accepted for Rickie Lambert?Would rather pay 250k more for him.
