Captain Fantastic 0 Posted July 11, 2009 Not named in starting 11 or bench for Dartford game today. Neither is Russell. Is this the big clue they are off?

DDD In The Fine City 1 Posted July 11, 2009 did you really expect Clingan to be stayin?
Captain Fantastic 0 Posted July 11, 2009 Not really, like i don''t think Hoolahan will stay but I hope we keep at least one!
Rupethebear 0 Posted July 11, 2009 Russell can go, big wage earner and spends too much time suspended, can not afford to play games with 10 men this year.

JuanVelasco 27 Posted July 11, 2009 It is clear to me that Clingan would never sign a new contract for us in League One, so the sooner he leaves the better. He doesn''t want to play in league one, we don''t want to lose out on a fair bit of cash or even cash and a player.I suspect that Gunn is making best of the Clingan interest and hoping to use him as a means of signing a player that we may otherwise have not been able to afford.500k + Paul Parry would be a quality deal if you ask me. Losing our best centre midfielder, but gaining a right winger who is twice as productive as Croft, and with 500k left to buy either a striker or another centre midfielder to fill the hole left by Clingan. If we were, hypothetically of course, to buy Dickinson for that 500k....... we are effectively getting Paul Parry and Liam Dickinson for Sammy Clingan. That sounds like a good deal to me.As for Russell, the sooner he goes the better he is a liability. Pattison has a bad attitude, get rid of him too.

Time to go Delia 0 Posted July 11, 2009 Clingan will leave but you have to remember he only came out of this league last season, its not like he is some massive star who would never lower himself to play in League 1. All those seasons waiting for somebody who could score straight from a free kick and we lose him in a season .
Crafty Canary 490 Posted July 11, 2009 Why would he want to go to Coventry? They aren''t promotion material and in 12 months he''s a free agent. If he''s going to a Championship club I''d have thought someone like Cardiff would be the lowest he''d set his sights on as they have a realistic prospect for promotion. Cardiff need to cut their wage bill, and Coventry are supposed to have a few million to spend!
Crafty Canary 490 Posted July 11, 2009 Signing marshall and Chopra won''t have helped the wage bill. However you can off-load fringe players and still bring in quality and manage the wage bill.
Largey 0 Posted July 11, 2009 Perhaps he and Russell picked up injuries earlier in the week?Maybe I''m being optimistic but then again maybe I''m seeing the obvious.
