Disgusting Behaviour

Recommended Posts

Seeing as this board is lacking moderation at the moment, and although I am sure many of you have ignored the current thread which is rife with abuse, can we please calm it down?  Some of the utter tripe which has been written in the ''why haven''t we signed anyone'' thread is quite simply disgusting, and on a ''family'' forum it should not exist. We''re all fans of NCFC (well most of us anyway), so can we all refrain from racism, homophobia etc etc.  It will make this forum a far more happier place [:D]

Sometimes it does get a bit much, and I do the best thing, I either stop readin the threads which get abusive, or I shut down the website and take some deep breaths.

I agree. I probably didn''t help, but I was pointing out Juans mouth, but the other bloke is vile and will be booted off, like I said what he is doing is a criminal offence and if someone was to actually make a complaint, then their is many offences from Malicious Communications Act to racially aggrivated POA.

But this does not mean that we should go back to moderated forums.

Well I just meant lacking as in Pete is not here, I seriously think that Archant should consider giving prominent members of the forum moderator privileges, and then things like this would not happen.

Like who?

That''s the trouble isn''t it, I think whoever it is has be pretty impartial.

I don''t think that would work with others, everyone would have an agenda, be it with someone or somepost.

We have a decent board (ish) 99% of the time, one ejit may get through for a wee while, but it will get removed and him/her banned. Just ignore if not like (Not you personally, others etc)

I''m not going to fault the guy, he does well considering everything but he really needs some help. One forum I''m on is pretty busy (but not as busy as this) and we have an administrator and four global moderators (as well as 25 or so "area" moderators - i.e. have some power over a particular section, but can''t ban people or anything like that) and between us if there are any problems we get them ironed out rather quickly.

Me personally would not want someone like CA or Bla or Mello, who ever, to dictate the way threads and posts go. Most of the time it is quiet abusiveness and quite gentle. It does ok with just Pete I think.

It''s not about dictating the way threads go though - it''s about cutting out the ridiculous abuse and wind-ups that occur on a daily basis. On most forums a lot of these people wouldn''t last for long.

I suppose it would cut out the abuse etc, this does happen and it is in Pinkuns blood, always has, but it is normally ok, yes there is a lot of windups, but to be honest, if I don''t like it, I move on to next thread or youporn.

You can''t be naive enough to think that this does not happen regularly on almost every active forum on the internet?

They''re often run by fans, as in theory this is. You have to say, it''s unrealistic for Archant to employ forum moderators, but it is also unrealistic to have any regular posters on here moderating - as it is clear many of the ''big name'' posters conflict with one another and cannot be impartial.

Yes that''s exactly it ncfcstar.Hogesar - I do agree to an extent that people are responsible for what they post and the majority of members should be mature enough to think about what they are saying. But if they overstep the mark then they should not be welcome here.I''m all for banter and gentle wind-ups but we have seen today, and on plenty of occasions in the recent past, that there are some people who overstep the mark. And when it gets to the point where decent, sensible members can''t be bothered to post it becomes a problem.

Like you said though ncfcstar mate, finding someone who the whole forum would agree on sadly will probably never happen...

I''m tempted to agree with a previous poster who says it''s up to us to be mature and debate in a sensible manner without it turning into what it did recently which to perfectly honest was disgusting and depraved in every way possible. It shouldn''t have to come to us being moderator further, we should be able to respect each other as Norwich fans, accept opinions and LEARN to stop, feeding, the damn, trolls...

If something makes you angry, upset, disgusted, or whatever; just ignore it. That doesn''t require moderation, just common sense.

So I go out for the day and something kicks off, would anybody like to give me a potted history of what happened? I hate missing this stuff and I can''t find anything worth reading.[;)]

I would like to place on record an apology for certain aspects of my own contribution to that thread. In my defence I will point out that I do feel as if I was provoked after being called an abusive name without explanation or reason. However, I acknowledge that I should not have allowed myself to become drawn into, and indeed at times encourage, confrontation.
