Norwich City set to unveil new signings

Last updated: 17/06/2009 07:00:00

Norwich City will announce more signings this week as activity in the transfer market gathers pace.

Swansea''s 6ft 4in midfielder Owain Tudur-Jones is expected to be unveiled as the second signing of the summer, having reportedly undergone a medical and agreed personal terms, while Birmingham goalkeeper Colin Doyle could follow on a season-long loan.

Canaries assistant manager Ian Butterworth refused to confirm names yesterday, but admitted both players, as well as Hartlepool defender Michael Nelson, were on a shopping list that could soon have two more names crossed off it.

“They are on the radar,” he said. “There are things going on behind the scenes right now.

“There are things happening and I would say there will be one or two signings by the end of the week possibly - fingers crossed that everything goes right.

“Between being on the list and actually signing there are a few things to sort out, but we are close on one or two players.

“There are a few others on the list - but you target six or seven and you know you are going to lose some who choose elsewhere.

“We have been turned down by players - we have had a list and screwed that list up because one or two have been lost, through different reasons. Maybe it''s because another club is closer to where they want to live. We have been turned down by one or two, but not because it''s Norwich City or it''s Bryan Gunn and it''s Ian Butterworth, but for other reasons.

“Money is always going to be a problem - we''re not over-blessed with money but that''s not always the case at all - it''s been someone just having a preference for somewhere else.”

I said this earlier, just because we have financial problems, we are going to be able to attract half decent players at this level due to fan base and facilities and recent signings are proving this. They are players that other league one teams have targeted, but they are choosing to come here - which is great for us and it looks like we are going to improve the overall size of our squad at last!

I''m just dead pleased we aren''t signing players who are 30+  only and they belong to us!
To be fair though they are players that were targeted by Wycombe and Swindon.
How do you know? He is talking about players we have missed, and you dont know which ones.
