It appears that certain creative Ipswich fans are attempting to use spin merchant tactics to become the ''best supported'' club in East Anglia. I felt it necessary to create a thread to the contrary:-

Seems interesting that Bluemike seemed to think the reason we get bigger crowds was because Norwich is a bigger place. Perhaps the crowds should be displayed as a percentage of the capacity. The only thing keeping the crowds lower over the last four years!

Ipswich f''quit!

It appears that certain creative Ipswich fans are attempting to use spin merchant tactics to become the ''best supported'' club in East Anglia. I felt it necessary to create a thread to the contrary:-

No, just keeping it current and not living too far in the past. Of course, as somebody has already pointed out, we had three stands for a season and half prior to these years. I believe somebody else has already pointed out that if you go as far back as attendance figures were published - since WWII - we have a higher average attendance. Is it you thats being ''selective''.

As for being 5 years old, particularly in terms of the mentality of a 5 year old, you appear to bare many more similarities. Posting on another teams forum with cheap pot shots, whne nobody on here appreciates your bizarre presence, is ever so slightly more playground is it not? Do Ipswich Town not have their own forum? (the only one that I have ever seen - the Green Un - had about 10 posters), if they do not then why not start one? If they do then why not p*ss of there?

Another thing to bear in mind, is had Ipswich put up with the rubbish we have had over the last few seasons and ultimately relegation to League 1, they would not have had attendances as we have had.  Have been less despite being better than us each season their attendances have dropped to below ours.

Before Keane came I''m sure they had only sold 11000 season tickets, and now it''s only 15k.  We are 18k.  Says enough for me!

Ipswich population is smaller than Norwich''s i believe - so this could be a logical explanation into why Ipswich''s Attendences are down on Norwich''s

although i personally believe Norwich Fans are more Loyal than Ipswich supporters from an outsiders point of view

End of the day i bet most of us would settle for a few thousand less fans to have the team , set up and ambition of those down the road , will we have 18,000 season ticket holders next season if we are still in league 1 ? no chance , so where will all those loyal supporters be then . Also may be we should call this forum We Have Never Had Any Days , i mean if we compare our history with that of Ipswich its just laughable isnt it . Stop being jealous as they have us beat on everything at the moment and it looks set to continue like for decades to come .

The population of Norwich compared to Ipswich is not too dissimilar.

According to the 2001 census Ipswich population is 117,069 & Norwich is 121,550

So, Michael, I don''t really think it really backs your argument up for you!

[/quote]That has been discussed hundreds of time.  Those figures are for the Ipswich Town council and Norwich City council areas, it does not include the built up suburban areas of the respective settlements, which fall outside of the council boundaries.  The figures for the ''built'' up area of Ipswich it is around 140,000, whereas the Norwich built up area (which includes parts of the city under Broadland and South Norfolk Council jurisdiction)  is around 230,000.As mentioned previously as both Norwich and Ipswich attract support from a much larger geographic area than the towns themselves, this argument is largely irrelevant.
