Press conference
So he''s not a holding midfielder or an attacking midfielder - what sort of midfielder is he then?!

Midfielder - one in to soften the blow of Hoolahan and Clinan going?
Considering he''s nothing like either of your aforementioned, I''d say he''s more to replace Fozzy/Pattison.

A headless chicken midfielder?

CITY can confirm competitive Norwich-born midfielder Matt Gill will leave League One rivals Exeter City and join the Canaries on July 1.

The 28-year-old''s contract with Exeter expires at the end of this month and he has agreed to sign for Norwich in a two-year deal.

Gill helped Exeter win back-to-back promotions in the last two seasons and in total made 164 appearances in all competitions for the Grecians, scoring 14 goals.

After playing in the Devon side''s 1-0 Blue Square Premier Play-off Final triumph in 2008, the 28-year-old played a key role in their promotion to League One this season, having finished runners-up to Brentford.
Has it actually said who we are signing ? Maybe more than one player ?
We dont want more than 1 if they are going to be like this one .

It says that he wants to pull on the yellow and green. At least that means he wants to play for the club. You have got to start becoming more positive and give him a chance. I bet you didn''t think that Clingan was going to be great since he was released form a team that got relegated but he done quality. Give him a chance. Come on Gilly
I cant say this excites me at all tho. Just shows the cash thats not available and the decline we have made.
Can he really be any worse than Mark Fotheringham though? Because thats who he is replacing as things stand (if Clingan and Russell remain).

Even after all these years there is no press conference quite like a Norwich City press conference, the feeling of being completely, totally and absolutely underwhelmed.

Not strictly true about Clingan mate, he chose to reject a contract with a team that got promoted! ;-)

Well we have to start somewhere, and the golden rules for building a decent squad have to be:1. Age - experienced, 25+2. Prime - peak of career - mid 20''s onwards3. Experience - knows how to play at the level of the league we are in4. Passion - wants to play for Norwich CityThis Gill seems to fit that essential criteria.  Remember we need a SQUAD not just a few additions.

Why?  We dont know his role in the team yet.  We know he has been involved in promotions at the level NCFC currently find themselves, he is obviously fit because of his appearance levels, he knows Norwich city''s reputation etc.And he is free.I cant honestly find what is to complain or get upset about right now.  If he is the last signing then fair enough, but he is the first signing, and surely worth a punt?People have been advocating players with passion over players worth money for ages now on this forum, yet when we start the rebuild suddenly everyone switches back to the "he must be crap because he is not worth £3 million quid" line of stupidity.

Exactly Ace. The same people are conveniently calling Clingan a £1m Premiership player whilst ''forgetting'' that he was a bosman free transfer from League One.

Lets not start slating this signing before we''ve even seen him play. At the end of the day he is a Norwich boy who will be desperate to prove himself at his hometown club and he should at least give a t*ss unlike several others who have played for us in recent years!
