Did anyone see Joe Lewis up front for England U21 last night? He probably did a better job of it than Cureton or Sibierski did this season.

Having missed this - can anyone explain why Joe lewis was put on up front?  Was it an emergency or purely to insult the host team as much as possible?

Emergency, apparently. Cattermole had an injury with no outfield players left on the bench. So Lewis volunteered to play striker.

It was just on Radio 1, stuart pearse had used his 4 outfield subs and only had Joe left, I think he just wanted to rest the striker so popped Joe on. He said he would stick to being in goal though.

I went yesterday and boy was I suprised!

Gibbs looked far far better than when he was on loan here and Joe Lewis went up front.

I dont think Pearce will be doing it again though, Joe should keep to the day job.

As said in several threads already on this subject from this morning - he has played up front for us in reserves in the past as a target man.
