this is the final insult to all season ticket holders...and it totally takes the Pl$$....why doesnt he just put £500,000 into the transfer kitty ....feck the board make me angry
Foulger has absolutely no obligation to spend money on the club, money which he would otherwise have left for his children upon his death. It is this time of bratty socialist know it all City fan that gets on my t*ts. Last week there was no sign of investment from any director, and now one is saying that he would give money to the club WITH NO EQUITY IN RETURN.

There are enough shares available for Foulger to spend that money on increasing his stake in the club (with the club still getting the money), yet he is standing side by side with the fans. If we give our hard earned money to the club for nothing but footballing reasons, he will give his hard earned money to the club for footballing reasons.

Bloody decent bloke if you ask me. He has clearly said that we dont have to give the money back, just like HE doesnt have to match that money.

Foulger you are a legend and a true fan.
as to you happy clappy!!!!  get a grip....fans had to watch total cr8p last season and now are going to have to watch league 1 football...yet again the board are asking for more money!!!!! thats the fecking point!!!!!!
Firstly, I am not partially sighted, and if I was I set my monitor to a lower resolution. Secondly, dont call me happy clappy, I could not have made it more clearer in this very post that I am anti-delia. I will continue to clap my team though, and if a wealthy City fan is willing to help that team be one worth clapping (thats Foulger by the way) and is only asking that the fans do not REDUCE the amount that they put into the club this year, then thats all good. I am not telling people to give their rebate, I am just saying that Foulger is doing a decent thing by matching the contribution of those that choose to do so.

Personally my rebate will still be spent on shares, as I want at least a small asset in return, yours may be spent going down the pub. Thats not only fair enough but irrelevant, the point being that Foulger is giving the club money and anybody that gives money away does not deserve to be treated with disrespect. Your money will still be spent on some sort of good or service, some people will choose for that service to be in the form of their saturday afternoon entertainment and some people will choose for that good or service to be their saturday night entertainment etc. Each to their own, but you cant criticise Foulger for giving money to the club that you all claim to support.
the point is....the board are asking the fans for more of their money....SIMPLES!!! nothing more nothing less
There not asking the fans for MORE money, they are asking that fans dont pay LESS money. There is a difference.

It realy is good of him and hopefully a genuine offer. He does not deserve abuse or flack if you believe it or not.

How strange that the invisible man suddenly appears when the other cannon fodder has gone.

Is there anyone else left to hide behind?
Only reason Fouger is taking the lead on this (and I admire his stance by the way), is that if the letter / offer came from The Cook they know precisely how that would go down amongst the fans!
Or maybe it is coming from Foulger because he doesnt want to make money from the club, whilst Delia doesnt wants profit.
Do you mean you think Delia does/does not want to make a profit?

The board as a whole would have to agree something like this so he is probably using money that he had already earmarked to invest. Stand up CT and answer if this was correct (from a previous thread).

It''s like DS and her 2 mil covering/not covering Turners last year.

Oh by the way with the new tax rates he would lose 50% of the money if he kept it, I am sure (pleaseTFA) this would be tax deductable some way. Still a nice sum though!
The 50% tax rate is not effective until the start of the financial year 2010 i.e 5.4.10. A company is able to contribute money to a football club but any such contribution could not be used reduce CT. If Foulger uses his own money for such a contribution then by definition he has already paid tax on it. Either way Foulger gains no financial advantage and no shares in the club. Whichever way you look at it, it is an extremely generous gesture from a loyal Norwich fan and should be applauded. It seems to me that most posters on here (not all, thank God) are moaning, miserable whingers who only want see the bad in everything.

People like you infecting the Barclay are why theres less noise there now than there was in the late 80s/early 90s with half the support. Plastic fans feck off to the pub to watch your beloved Man U on Sky and leave the Barclay for proper fans.

and as for your PROPER FANS statement...you would like to see fans CLAPPITY CLAP the team to league 2  league 3 etc etc....wake up.

i will alsways support NCFC what ever league they are in but i dont have to be happy about the situation the board have put us in and THEN have the boolacks to ask for yet more money.....that is my point!!!

Lord Snooty you are my hero. You have just conveyed my exact point in a much more exacting manner. I can be called Happy Clappy all that I wish, but Foulger could have spent that money on equity (which would have at least a small resale value at some stage). He has instead left that equity open for further external investment (shares already available) and thus this truly is a gift to the club.

Geoffrey Watling II in the making. Fans that criticise him should be rounded up and placed in a new padded section of the ground.

''Support'', in what respect? Look at the definition of support? You are certainly not offering Moral support, as you criticise the clubs every move. You are reducing your financial support. Your not being asked to give your money, your being asked not to reduce your financial support. You are choosing to reduce your financial support.

It appears to me that contrary to supporting the club in whatever league they play, you are in fact swiftly withdrawing your ''support''.

The quote "you dont give to recieve" seems to be completely taken out context by a simple mind, and is exactly the ethos that Michael Foulger has adhered to.
thnx for that lol
Im happy to retract that statement in light of your apology for calling me a happy clapper. Agree to disagree and all that ;-)

Nice to see an argument ending in nice old English civilness.

Lord Snooty you are my hero. You have just conveyed my exact point in a much more exacting manner. I can be called Happy Clappy all that I wish, but Foulger could have spent that money on equity (which would have at least a small resale value at some stage). He has instead left that equity open for further external investment (shares already available) and thus this truly is a gift to the club.
yes is is....at the end of the day its a forum and if we all agreed how boring would that be [Y]  and if Foulger is willing to put his own cash is GOOD ON HIM...its just a shame the fans have been asked to put more of theirs in.   as in my name IM CITY TIL I DIE  [Y]

Interesting thread/debate. Some of you are a bit off beam IMO. If you think Foulger will not "invest" the money (that he thinks he can afford) in NCFC in any event I think you are both deluded and a tad insulting. He is simply using his brain for the good of the club - and trying to persuade season ticket holders to match his offer - albeit he''s doing it the other way round, saying he will match the fans'' contribution. He has also made it perfectly clear that there is no shame in claiming the rebate and that just buying the season ticket is contribution enough. He is simply trying to help the club and is leading by example. No-one is forced to follow that example - but knocking the idea seems crazy to me.

Who of us as fans of NCFC has the right to knock anyone who decides to give money to the club?

THE FUTURE IS INDEED BLEAK IF THIS IS THE RESPONSE TO THOSE WHO GIVE AT THIS TIME OF GREAT NEED.

Good post Ryan, It is a generous offer by Foulger. However, some on here would not be happy if he put in £50 million of his own money they would still complain. None of them have any constructive argument or offer any feasable alternative.

we are so ungratefull ?

if we didnt have idiots running this club ,and the board invested properly we would not be in this mess to start with .

im certainly not gratefull the board have made this club a laughing stock , and exspect the fans (who have been treated unfairly ) to pay for thier obvious blunders .

nor will i be blackmailed .

how do you think the newcastle fans would act if they were given the same proposal ?

we have hasd our worst season for fifty years , so i for one certainly am not gratefull .
this is the final insult to all season ticket holders...and it totally takes the Pl$$....why doesnt he just put £500,000 into the transfer kitty ....feck the board make me angry
Foulger has absolutely no obligation to spend money on the club, money which he would otherwise have left for his children upon his death.
In that case, let him resign from the board!

I think it is very decent of Michael Foulger to offer to donate anything up to £600,000 for the Norwich City cause.

Pity he wasn''t feeling that generous last season when we were still in the Championship.

But thanks anyway!

Maybe he didn''t have the money free back then, but both myself and Wiz know he does now.

We didnt need the money then, we wasted it. If we did raise £1m this way, then it will make up the shortfall in the number of people that didnt renew.
