Theres only one Ken Foggo

So you think City have got problems?

All of this just typifies what is happening to football today. The major clubs are/are becoming playthings for the mega-rich and supporters mean nothing. Unless the powers that be do something to change the way the game is going there will only be five or six clubs in the country, with loads of plastic supporters, and the rest will be also rans.

Drastic action is needed now.

Ban the loaning of players imediately. This system is highly abused by the top clubs who have 50, 60 or 70 professionals on their books many of whom will never play as regular first team players but who are denied to other clubs. Gone are the days when lower clubs can pick up players in their early twenties, develop them, build them into their teams and/or sell them them off at a profit later to keep the club going. None of the top clubs will sell the players now, they only allow them to be loaned out. Other clubs give them exposure, develop them, pay their wages and increase their value. In fact they often increase their value so much that they then cannot afford them if they are sold! If no-one loaned players what would the top clubs do with their surplus players who would then be getting no football? They would no longer be an investment so they would have to be released.

Squad limitation must be introduced. Too many of the top clubs have too many players to be realistic. Limit the players over 21 at a club. Then on a players 21st birthday his club would have to make up their mind ... sign him or release him ..... if they sign him they would then have to sell/release another player to keep their squad limit. This would allow many more players to become available to lower teams and consequently, by sale and demand, make the players accept far more realistic wage demands than at the moment. Is it wage demands and payments that are killing clubs? I think so!

Change must be made now or football will certainly be the loser.

[quote user="Buckethead"]From the Daily Mail here''s a breakdown of the big earners at Newcastle.

WORTH KEEPING:

NICKY BUTT £60,000 a week — a leader who will be needed.

STEVEN TAYLOR £40,000 — a proud Geordie who will want to make amends.

DANNY GUTHRIE £40,000 — will do well in Championship.

SHOLA AMEOBI £40,000 — Football League is his level.

STEVE HARPER £30,000 — deserves a run as No 1.

RYAN TAYLOR £30,000 — should pick up in lower level.

ON THEIR WAY:

MICHAEL OWEN £105,000 — out of contract, needs a new club.

DAMIEN DUFF £70,000 — says he wants to stay (yeah, right).

OBAFEMI MARTINS £70,000 — on the first plane out of Tyneside, never to be
seen again.

ALAN SMITH £60,000 — strangely has a list of clubs who want him.

MARK VIDUKA £60,000 — Aussie beaches beckon.

GEREMI £60,000 — odds on for a Turkish club who need a 40-plus player.

£50,000 — cost £5.6m but no use now.

HABIB BEYE £50,000 — one of few to leave with integrity intact.

IGNACIO GONZALEZ £50,000 — who indeed?

CACAPA £40,000 — one of the worst Brazilians ever.

SEBASTIEN BASSONG £30,000 — one of Newcastle’s few assets.

PETER LOVENKRANDS £20,000 — brief loan spell to end.

KEVIN NOLAN £50,000 — January signing which backfired.

HARD TO SHIFT:

JOEY BARTON £60,000 — who would be mad enough to buy him?

JOSE ENRIQUE £60,000 — cost £6m, which was £6m too much.

FABRICIO COLOCCINI £60,000 — he was frighteningly bad.

XISCO £50,000 — an expensive flop.

Those 6 players that are ''worth keeping'' still equate to over £12m a year. Our wage bill last year was £8m, and one of the highest in the league!
