The Black Farmer is hoping for success with the launch of ‘The Great White Hope’ chicken, the brand’s first free-range offering.

Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, aka the Black Farmer, has teamed up with

Banham Poultry in Norfolk to create the new product, which is the first

Freedom Food-approved free-range chicken under the brand.Emmanuel-Jones

said: “Even in these tough economic times, people want to be able to

buy great-tasting chicken that has been carefully reared. Having the

reassurance of the Freedom Food standard is increasingly important to

people shopping in this sector. With ‘The Great White Hope’ we are

setting the gold standard and a quality benchmark for whole chicken in

this category.“Banham has an excellent reputation for producing

top-quality chicken, so they were an obvious partner for The Black

Farmer brand. “I see this particular bird as an opportunity to

have a quality, branded British free-range chicken available to

consumers looking for The Black Farmer’s trademark flavour profile and

quality at an affordable price.”Banham CEO Martyn Bromley said:

“We are pleased to be collaborating with The Black Farmer on this

range, as we both value the British farmer and take pride in producing

really tasty chicken.”Banham will also produce and distribute a

new range of The Black Farmer BBQ chicken thighs. Boasting bold flavour

profiles, the launch variants include: Kingston Hot & Fruity,

Kentucky Chilli, Louisiana Spice, and Midwest Spicy Maple. The new chicken products join The Black Farmer’s well-established and successful Premium Pork sausage and dry cure bacon lines.
