Saint Canary 0 Posted October 26, 2004 What do Shergar, The Crew of the Mary Celeste and Norwich City''s pre transfer deadline budget have in common? They have all dissapeared without a trace! As myself and others (stevenagefan) have pointed out the £1.2m was supposed to be extra on top of our transfer kitty to be a striker and possibly another player before deadline. Now we are told that £1.2m is all we have. What is going on?
ZLF 334 Posted October 26, 2004 Not seen anyone state we only have £1.2m - only at least £1.2m which we knew anyway. Where is the ''only'' £1.2m quote?OTBC
Plastic Scouser 0 Posted October 26, 2004 Is it really worth our time worry about this - what will be will be and we will have no influence over the decisions to be made by the board...
nolegs 0 Posted October 26, 2004 Don''t wish to appear pedantic but saint read whats actually written you appear to have missed 2 very important words "AT LEAST"" or would you prefer every manager and board to know exactly what our transfer budget is
StevenageFan 0 Posted October 26, 2004 yeah I agree we can ony wait and see what will be will be. All this debating and we could end up signing the best striker we have seen for years and end up in the top 10. That would be quality Come on City!!!
Saint Canary 0 Posted October 26, 2004 Zipper, Nolegs you are right it does say "at least" £1.2m. However I can''t imagine that there is much more in the kitty if we are looking for a "bargain". As you point out it may well be a tactic to avoid other clubs trying to get more for players than they are worth, or it may not! It would suprise me if we spend more than £1.5m on a player in January though.
If I had the wings of a sparrow 0 Posted October 26, 2004 If you go in a shop & tell the sales assistant you have £50 to spend they will try & sell you something for £60. If we tell other clubs we have £2m to spend they will try & get £2.5m. All the board are doing are keeping their cards close to their chest & that''s the correct way to conduct business. StevenageFan 0 Posted October 26, 2004 why didn''t anyone say that when Wiz started the 11 page debate on this very subject? Those 2 sentences sum it up pretty much. Lets stop arguing/debating the boards apparent stinginess until the transfer window is closed again, please, I''m trying to work,
ZLF 334 Posted October 26, 2004 Fair enough Saint - I can''t disagree that we wont spend more than £1.5m in Jan as how much more than £1.2m is unknown.Personally I suspect or is that naively hope the figure is nearer £3m but dont expect any more - and know that will have to cover wages agents fees etc.OTBC
