FOR THOSE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND ST ANDREWS HALL.

Recommended Posts
After some consideration, I still don''t wish to join NCISA, but, is there anyway I can make a small donation towards hire of hall?
Whats changed your mind Wiz, thought in the last few days you''d decided to join and had asked for a form to complete??
I don''t know for sure Angel, just a sixth sense, and crossing swords with certain officers of that organisation hasn''t helped much, regardless of who said what first.

But, I believe this meeting is important for the fans to express their views, and halls cost money................I''ve hired many myself for a National Society, and I realise the cost imnvolved.

:(

You''re so fickle. Last week you loved me.
No I didn''t say that, I said you looked stuningly pretty and attractive, and I still stand by that Kathy.............however, only Mrs Wiz has my undying love.
Incidentially Yankee, have you got any views or questions you would like addressing at the meeting on Thursday? You have been on this forum a long time and involve yourself in many debates. Would be interested to see what you think.
Thank you for the invitation Gazza. With emotions running high and, as I''m a fan that does not attend the games, I have been trying to keep reasonably quiet so that those who do attend matches can justifiably have free rein. In any event, I''m not sure my thoughts would fit in with what many probably want to express at the NCISA meeting. The only opinion I chose to express on this forum was on the following thread which, understandably, received little attention.

I am unable to attend due to other commitments but would like it noted that, as a season ticket holder, I am deeply opposed to the appointment of the current management team at a time where our club cannot afford to be experimenting with ''rookies''.  In addition I feel the club is poorly run and provides poor value for money for its long-suffering loyal fans who deserve to be treated with a lot more respect and provided with some hope for the future.

Just out of interest, I thought people might be interested in reading the letter I have just sent to Kathy in advance of tonight''s meeting.Dear Kathy,I am writing to express my opinions on the future of

NCFC in advance of tonight’s meeting, which I am unable to attend. I am

not a member of NCISA, but intend to join next time I am able to attend

a meeting. I have been a City fan since I was six years old, and have

had a season ticket for the last three years, during which time I have

not missed a home match in league or cup.

Firstly, I am against the appointment of Bryan Gunn as he clearly

lacks the managerial experience necessary to guide us through the

cut-throat and overtly physical style of football played in League One.

However, I believe that the problems at the club are much more profound

than the simple matter of managerial appointments.

The board have come in for colossal amounts of criticism in recent

times, much of which has been justified, but I think this criticism

should be placed in context. When the current board took over the club

after the Chase protests, and indeed towards the end of our top-flight

tenure in the early to mid-1990s, we were frequently playing in front

of around 15,000 fans. The board managed to somehow engender a very

strong club ‘brand’ that swelled our fanbase markedly, resulting in the

incredible levels of loyalty Norwich fans have shown in recent history.

The number of season-ticket holders signed up for League One next

season is greater than our average attendance in the year we finished

third in the inaugural Premier League, at a time when attendances in

football are generally dwindling. Like it or not, the current board

played a significant part in the growth of our fanbase.

However, the increased revenues from gate receipts, and, indeed,

from our year in the Premiership and two years of parachute payments,

not to mention considerable player sales, have been frittered away on a

succession of appalling players signed by clueless managers. It seems

that the loyalty of the fans to the club is so strong that many fans

seem content to simply accept the status quo that those in charge are

‘doing their best’. Removing Messrs Doncaster and Munby from their

positions is a start, but realistically, what are we left with? A

celebrity chef, a publisher and a poultry supplier – hardly the most

inspiring mixture of business acumen with which to revitalise a failing

club.

It is absolutely imperative that, irrespective of whether Bryan

Gunn leads the team into League One next season, we appoint to the

board at least one person with real, tangible experience of running a

football club from the top down, as a matter of utmost urgency. Our

‘small family club’ mentality and the embarrassing ‘prudence with

ambition’ mantra has led to the sum total of our ambition being to keep

ourselves out of administration.

Of course, overambition can sometimes be every bit as damaging as

prudence – just ask Geoffrey Richmond or Peter Ridsdale – but every

aspect of the club has been run with the extreme caution of a group of

directors who are clearly well out of their depth at this level. Ever

since our promotion in 2004, the board have scrimped and saved on

everything but auxiliary and peripheral revenue streams that are

largely incidental to the team itself.

In order for the club to move forward, and for our incredibly

devoted and passionate fanbase to be able to experience even a fraction

of what their loyalty deserves, it is imperative that the majority

shareholders revalue their shares to a level commensurate with the

club’s faltering position. In the current financial climate, the absurd

overvaluation of Delia and Michael’s shares reduces the chances of

finding a suitable and willing buyer from ‘slim’ to ‘none whatsoever’.

Only with fresh impetus and fresh investment can Norwich City Football

Club arrest the seemingly unstoppable slide into ignominy.

Best regards,xxxxx xxxxxxSeason Ticket Holder
