Phil Mulryne Vs Steven Gerrard

Recommended Posts

An interesting and perhaps perplexing question one may think. Especially in the light of Sunday’s horrific relegation performance at the Valley. But was Phil Mulryne, prevented from becoming the celebrated icon that Steven Gerrard is today considered to be by war, misfortune, saisburys basic looks and a lack of any kind of on field support. Phil was of course a god but he couldn’t win games on his own.

Phil was hindered, thinking about it from the off really. War torn Northern Ireland is far different from growing up in a scouse hot bed of thieves and football. War torn Belfast with the ever cunning stealthy recruiters of the IRA ready to recruit any wayward youngsters simply demonstrates how Phil should be commented on his dedication and focus to his footballing career.

Being groomed as a possible replacement for David Beckham, he being the selfless individual that he is felt it only right the rest of the world should be able to bask in his footballing genius and so embarked on a move to ambitious Norwich City. EVERTON fan Steven Gerrard on the other hand stayed close to home, soaking up the support of his family and friends in lets be honest rather easier surrouindings. Phil however was a rather successful nomad,  even giving Polish champions Legia Warsaw the privilege of enjoying his talents with his multi dimensional ball playing cavalier approach to the game.

Now many of you may not have heard of rather podgy Phil’s stunning girlfriend http://www.thespoiler.co.uk/index.php/tag/phil-mulryne  Nicola Chapman but having a beauty like this in toe as opposed to perma tanned scouse minger Alex Curran http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/04_01/curransplit0304_468x318.jpg is always gonna make you more inclined to skip training, i mean Nigel Worthington or her? Stevie on the other hand, Alex Curran or Rafa Benitez, mmmm Rafa?

Now while you may try and say yeah but look at the stats, yeah sure Stevie G has a better goal scoring record with 1 in 5 as opposed to Phil who still rolls in not too far behind with an average of 1 in 8. But internationals tell a different story, Phil maintains his level of consistency, once again demonstrating that famed level of consistency, being driven on by playing in finer arenas to display his prestigious talents. Stevie on the other hand lets the pressure get him and simply falls apart on the international stage, although playing with that fat w*nk*r Lampard would hinder anyone wouldn’t it?!

Liverpool as well, successful for years (well relatively, if you consider perennially being nearly men) as opposed to pedestrian Norwich City sides is a different kettle of fish (for 1 Stevie G gets to support Torres, i.e more chances, Phil on the other hand had to single handedly a times keep the Noriwch midfield afloat, i mean who’s goin to get more goals!) and Phil’s mental strength and ability to destroy teams single handedly deserves due consideration.

Gerrard:

Attitude: 5/10

Girlfriend: 3/10

Upbringing: 6/10

Passing: 9/10

Shooting: 8/10

Tackling: 5/10

Criminal record: 3/10

Nomadism: 1/10

TOTAL: 40/80

Mulryne

Attitude: 7/10

Girlfirned: 9/10

Upbringing: 4/10

Passing: 6/10

Shooting: 4/10

Tackling 3/10

Nomadism: 8/10

TOTAL: 41

This conclusively proves how Irish hero Phil Mulryne is a better, all round sporting professional than Steven Gerrard.
Are you crazy? He may be one of the best attacking midfielders in the world but his lack of Nomadism is shocking!

No you don''t, it''s loaned to us and paid back automatically through our wages once we''ve graduated (providing the graduate is earning 15k+). Your taxes pay for MP''s to have new kitchens and rent out porno''s.

Dont be stupid, students get it easy. It costs the taxpayer £13,000 a year to send each student to university. The student pays just over £3,000 a year in tuition fees.

Thats why I am so disullusioned with the sheer number of wasters at my uni, I would say that 30% - 40% dont give a sh*t at all.

If you think that a university could run with just £3k per student then you are in a dreamworld......

There are 12,000 students at my university - lets say they are all paying one way or another £3,000 in tuition fees. That''s £36,000,000 alone - plus the amount that pay rent in halls, and the amount of times space is rented out on our campus for outside events such as weddings and concerts. I reckon an educational institution could be run on such funds.

There are far more trivial things that taxes are spent on by the Government, at least IF taxes were related to directly to higher education, those that are paying taxes would be possibly funding their own childrens education, while providing doctors, nurses etc.. etc.. for the future.

I don''t know why I''m arguing about this anyway....It''s not like I''ll have a problem contributing to the ''pot'' when my wages become taxable.

I was actually thinking Keith Briggs, but against Bosingwa, due to the similarities in pace and playing style.

im rather looking forward more to Daryl Sutch vs Cafu should be a close one i reckon
It''s sad really that Sutch is so maligned when he played in one of our most successful teams ever at the top of the Premiership yet no one ever has a good word to say about him.

Carl Bradshaw vs Cafu is far more appropriate

Derveld vs Terry

[:O] can anyone else remember that burst of pace across the pitch against Barnsley was it or Crewe or someone like that or am i that sad
I remember that. I think it was on his home debut, I thought to myself "bloody hell, he looks alright".....how wrong I was.

Ulf Ottoson vs Fernando Torres.

Firstly Best.Post.Ever.

However, although I think you have covered the majority of angles, you have overlooked that Mulryne had he''s long term injuries at the crucial stages of he''s career, something that has eluded this Steven Gerrard character. In addition to this in he''s prime (the 03/04 and 04/05 season), Mulryne had to battle it out with the likes of the infamous Gary ''three lungs'' Holt and Damien ''place in the sun?'' Francis for the centre midfield spot, this kind of competition for places has never been reflected at Liverpool, I mean Bruno Cheyrou?

Anyway I degress, to summarize I consider your Phil Mulryne Vs Steven Gerrard debate, a rhetorical one. Because in the absence of injuries, frequent lack of form and occasional lack of ability it would be Phil Mulryne, not Steven Gerrard, getting me a a shed load of fantasy football points each week.

When I''ve had enough of revision expect a secondary debate....Should Gary Doherty be known as the Ginger Pele, or should Pele e known as the Brazillian Gary Doherty. Its a question, which requires an answer.
