can we be guaranteed survival after the Reading game?

Recommended Posts
Trying to work out if we beat reading and all the other teams around us lose could we be guaranteed survival before the Charlton game?
No, but we could stay up if Barnsley and/or Forest lose both of their games and we win on Monday.

...actually, if Barnsley lose both matches and we draw both of ours we stay up.  It would be totally out of our control going into the final game, though, and definitely not a nice experience at all come 3 May - but we all remember what happened last time we had our fate in our own hands on the final day of the season.....

We have to hope that Wolves will do the job on Saturday - and surely they want to be confirmed as champions as soon as possible.

It is down to us to get something from Reading so that we can take at least an interest into the final game - if not have things in our own hands.

both PNE and Swansey have hard away games on Weekend and if both not win then Reading is safe on play off and may be not much motivated against us.Come on boys!!!

I would say though that if Birmingham lose to Preston, suddenly Reading can potentially catch them by beating us and beating Birmingham on the last day.Not that any of this matters. If we win two games we will probably be safe. We really should only worry about ourselves.

Have to say that it occurred to me that Reading might be in a position to rest a couple of players come Monday, which in theory would be a good thing - but then again, it might not as those on the pitch would be playing for a spot in their play-off starting XI.

I think there''s far too much "this team will think this, that team will think that" going on around here.Footballers play pretty instinctively & none of them likes to lose. If a chance comes along to stick it in the net they will.
no doubt about that but simply when u badly need pts motivation is bigger than if need to play very hard play-off in 10 days time.I just see cover from last night Reading game and they was all over Derby so they look on form and will be very hard for us to win over motivated Reading so think is better to us they to be safe and nothing to play for simply motivation level is important......

No. Its not possible to be safe after Reading, regardless of how the results go. It is possible for us to be relegated before we play Charlton though.
