Canary Poirot 1 Posted April 23, 2009 This announcement is more good news for us. With Saints still having everything to play for to avoid next season''s 10 point deduction, there is one less relegation place to fill. After Barnsley crumbling in the dying minutes of their last game, that''s a double tonic prior to this weekend''s round of games. And at least one of Plymouth, Forest or Barnsley will fail to win on Saturday, meaning a fired up Carrow Road, will lift us out of the bottom 3 with one game to play (he says hoping!). Plus Sammy Clingan will want to put in another storming performance as he''ll be live on tv - he won''t want any of those prospective Premiership managers to see him put in a poor performance. Lambo 0 Posted April 24, 2009 I wouldn''t bet against Southampton coming right back up regardless of when the deduction comes into effect, quality academy they''ve got there.Sorry to hear this though, other than that arrogent little prick in the half time cross bar challenge back in January i like them and their fans. Irish canary 0 Posted April 24, 2009 If it helps us I really dont mind! we may be playing them anyway, but lets hope not!!
ZLF 334 Posted April 24, 2009 This really is good for us. They are relegated. However it is definitely in their interests to win their last two games - and the deduction may give them the motivation to do soFirstly they will edfinitely appeal over the summer - so if they finish 4th bottom and can get a quick decision they could avoid relegation altogether (unlikely, but worth trying from their perspective)Secondly - they are relegated either way; but they will not want to start next year on -10pts - again a big incentive. What we really have to hope is that Soton win against Burnley tomorrow. If the lose they will have nothing to play for away to Forest; we NEED them to go to the city ground with a realistic chance of avoiding a -10 start next season - a sense of injustice to snatch an away win will definitely help our own relegation battle - as long as Blackpool can do us a favour tomorrow too. Tomorrows games will be painful to watch :-(
Camuldonum 0 Posted April 24, 2009 Southampton confirm that they will challenge the points deduction. Times say up to half the debt could be wiped out. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/football_league/article6157426.ece
