I cant imagine a local pint would be out of the question......Try singing " On the ball city"..With your yellow and green shirt on in any town centre pub on the day and im sure they  would find you a pint of  O -, or a decent pint of A over at A and E..........hehehehehe

Bongo!!!

That''s not particularly helpful old boy!   ... but I take your point if you are that naive or on a death wish... I go back to the 70''s when it used to be pitched battles all over the place, but haven''t been there since the 1985 Milk Cup Semi final first leg....I''m guessing that things are a little more civilised in recent years.

A parking information site, suggests away supporters'' cars get directed to parking in West End Road, anyone got any knowledge of this area?

Theres a pub right next to the train station for away fans and a huge car park right next to the ground where you can park.

The only problem is the pigs meet you off the train and you can''t get near the pub. We even caught the 8 o''clock train last year to try and get in the pub before the majority of Norwich fans  arrived but the filth kept us detained at the station until there were enough of us to escort to the ground.

Make sure you have a coat on and no colours showing until you get away from the station then they won''t know you''re there for the footy.

We didn''t have any colours at all. There were Norwich Police spotters on the train and we were picked up as soon as we set foot on the station in Ipswich.

I live in Ipswich, for my sins, and parking is always a nightmare on any saturday let alone a home game. main reason for this is some of the multistories in/near town are letting people in for £2 all day to try and boost trade so they are rammed. park and ride might not be worst idea ever if your driving, down the A140, up the A14 to asda (first ipswich exit) and its next to B&Q on your left. Other than that parking is horrible as the ground isnt surrounded by side streets like some (Highfield Road was a great one for street parking). If you really fancy driving go to stowmarket (about 15mins the other way on the A14) and use the train station or a side street if you know the area and hop on the train, abit of a way round for most but it gets you parked and from there to Ipswich is less than £4 return. I have the ''luxury'' of getting the bus in so shall be drinking in town and there are loads of pubs on route to the ground, most are pretty grim though. I suppose the most normal ones are the Wetherspoons pair (The Cricketers & Golden Lion), its not Lloyds but it''ll do!. As for close to the ground its either the one opposite the train or nowhere, all the ones in the cinema complex 100yards from the ground will be packed with Blue, the Drum and Monkey is closed now i think certainly looks it not that id go there anytime ever even if your dragged me, rough as a tramps face.

I took the car last year as was heading straight back to London after the match. We parked up in a small town centre car park about 10 minutes walk from the ground. We had colours on, but had no issues walking down or walking back. Was a bugger to get away after the game, but I think it''s the same wherever you go.

best place to look for places to park etc. is the Football Ground Guide website: www.footballgroundguide.co.uk.

the station hotel hasnt been open for years to away fans. in the 90''s it was great - we all were there by lunchtime for an evening kick off and the atmosphere was electric. a major escort from a pub completely taken over by city. those were the days before you got arrested for saying ''scum''.

Errr No

You really haven''t been for years !

The concept of safely parking in the town (NOT city) and going for a pre match pint is a no no.

Marched down to the ground like cattle, route lined by the old bill trying to keep the 8 fingered pitchfork jugglers from admiring our finery.

It''s not pretty, but great when we win.

Ive been the last 3 or 4 season''s, driven up early and parked near the ground in my colours and had no problems whatsoever. Always then put a jacket on to cover my shirt and then into the pub to meet friends including some Ipswich friends and no problems.

Think it just if you arrive on the train in groups you''re frogmarched to the ground, which is the same as we do to them when they visit CR.

I know it is a long shot because of the time of the game, but does anybody know if there will be any pubs open for a couple beers in Norwich before the train leaves to scum land???
