Bryan still sounds jolly and upbeat despite no - show by players and a pivotal defeat!

Nice to hear Bryan taking today''s dire performance and what could prove to be a pivotal defeat in such a philosophical and upbeat manner on Radio Norfolk. Yes the referee and his assistants were dire, and we had suffered a two week international break with the odd enforced day off for a round of golf, but come on, aren''t we supposed to be in the middle of a relegation dog fight for survival in the championship? What we witnessed from the majority of Norwich players today, with the exception of Mooney and Shackell, and possibly a maximum of two others, was an almost complete capitulation with the white flag hoisted well before the interval. Carney might as well not been on the pitch, whilst Crofy, as much as we love him, huffed and puffed to little effect. The writing was on the wall by the interval, so why did Bryan not bring on Lee and McDonald for the full second half? By the time they did make an appearance it was too late. Do us a favour Bryan. Even gentle giants have to read the riot act sometimes, and for our next match start Lee from the start up front alongside Mooney, with Bell and croft playing wide. Finally, give McDonald enough time to show us what he can really do! In the last ten minutes today he caused more panic in the opposition''s defence than for the remainder of the game. Remember what is at stake here!

There was always going to be a big disappointment if we didn''t win today because a lot of people had it down as one of the definite wins when totting up their "how many points do we need" things. There were always going to be twists and turns and this is one. The fact that we still have games like Reading and Swansea that nobody expects us to win means we have opportunities to get points out of nothing.

I thought we lost to a team of equal ability today, but who were better organised, and whose movement up front caused us all sorts of problems. Had they been better players we could have been overwhelmed. Gunn also picked the wrong side and left his substitutions too late. Lee should have started, Croft was blatantly not fit and Clingan and Lappin couldn''t get into the game because both sides played it into the channels from the back all game and bypassed the respective midfields.

However, we could have played a lot worse and have on many occasions. As usual, we need to remember that every defeat doesn''t mean the end of the world, and every win doesn''t mean we''re any good either.
