Swansea Anyone?

Recommended Posts

I know two weeks today is the priority for most to get to, but in-between we have our second longest trip of the season, Swansea (didn''t realise Carlisle is closer!!!).How many going? Could be a massive game for us, just as big as our trip to Portaloo Road.

theres 2 more games between Ipswich, Swansea away and Twatford at home....

these 2 games are both far more important than Ipswich...

Swansea is our biggest game of the season, then Watford is.. then we can start to think about Ipswich.. the next game is ALWAYS the only one that matters.

jas :)

yes im going, with a mate and his dad, looking forward to it, i''ve heard from other fans who have visited the stadium that you are escorted by police to the ground, not so sure though.
feel we could bounce back and win this one, any ideas on how many fans will be making the trip?

I''m off to Swansea (Fourth longest trip in the league after Plymouth, Carlisle and Exeter). Looking forward to ticking off another ground.

Apparently there is an away fans car park where we are taken by bus to the away turnstiles. Not the friendliest of places by all accounts. Wish I had visited the Vetch Field though. A beauty of an old ground. [:(]

I''ll be there with my Dad and 2 mates. Reckon there will be about 1500/1600 there. A great opportunity for the geeks to tick off another ground.

This might be a good time to be playing Swansea - although they will always be tough to beat at home.  Maybe they''ve been having some play-off jitters in the last month ?  Or maybe teams are "finding them out" as the season progresses.  Either way their form has fallen away in the last month or so.Swanseas'' last 6 gamesCardiff (a) 2-2Sheff Wed (a) 0-0QPR (a) 0-1Palace (h) 1-3Plymouth (h) 1-0Forest (a) 1-1So I make that 1 win, 3 draws, 2 defeats, 6 points in the last 6, which is relegation form.To go back to 10 games...Derby (a) 2-2Charlton (h) 1-1Doncaster (h) 3-1Watford (a) 0-22 wins, 5 draws, 3 defeats, 11 points in 10 games.  So they''ve been tough to beat, but aren''t getting the wins recently.  Who''d take a draw this Saturday ? I think you might be in dreamland there! 1500/1600 making a 620 mile round trip? I''d take 1000 off that figure.

Obviously, I could be wrong as I know we travel well.

As for the geek bit, I am definately one of those. Will be a new ground for me. [:)]
well when i bought tickets today, i was put in the upper tier...guessing the lower tier must be full then!
They fill the top first. Rarely seen the bottom tier with anyone in it.

Many of the fans off to Swansea will solely be there for the ''fascinationg'' of seeing a new ground. I go to the games regardless of whether I have been to the ground before or not. So I am a geek because of my loyal support you''re saying? Take it I wont be seeing you in Swansea then? Shame...

There''s nothing wrong with being a geek.

Be proud people!

I''m a ground ticker too, and have had the pleasure of knocking off Plymouth, Doncaster and on Saturday, Swansea, during the course of this bizarre season.

Next year I could be going to the new Cardiff ground, the Riverside, or even Yeovil. Each year brings a new magical mystery tour. I bloody love it!

Will be there with Mrs Sid as usual.

Yes, its a new ground for me. Does that make me a geek, or a City fan wanting to support my team?

Anyone else remember the Carling Cup game at the Vetch about 10 or 12 years ago, when Bellamy was still here?  Neil Adams missed his first penalty in about 20 attempts and broke his collar bone too.

Their fans made it abundantly clear they didn''t like us because we were English but it was nothing to the abuse they gave Bellars because he''s from Cardiff!  I found it quite intimidating but mainly because they were an unknown quantity, at least with the likes of Wolves and Millwall you know what you''re dealing with.

They have police guarding a path alongside the river Tawe which leads on to the car park for away coaches, the police are there to  stop trouble makers running around behind the car park  and attacking away fans! Must have been a problem there in the past, not aware of any serious problems now though.

No trouble at Swansea for years lads. Please dont confuse us with the thick coin throwing scum from down the M4 :). Theres usually plenty of mixing and good banter amongst home and away fans in a lot of the pubs. Theres always a huge police presence which is completely unjustified but its an excuse for SWP to hand out some nice overtime and send the bill to the club.

I remember it well. http://www.scfc.co.uk/98/98norwh.htmlWhatever happened to Darren Eadie? He was the next big thing at one point then just disappeared..As for our fans, there were only about 3500 of us there that night. We''ve come a long way.

He went to Leicester under Martin O''Neill but got a persistent knee injury which forced him to pack up when he was about 28.  He still lives locally and does a bit of media work now and again.

I shall be taking Lady Snooty and the Rolls of course although her ladyship will go shopping at the Cripps I think it''s called. Our chauffeur, Madge, will drive. Can anyone tell him how to find the away supporters car park and is it really the case that away fans are taken by bus to the ground form the car park .......... as is the case here at Southampton ? I must say I am worried about the Rolls being scratched so I''m thinking of taking the Jaguar instead.

Suppose it depends on your definition of loyal!

OK, no problem, all very clear : Swansea FC website : Visiting supporters are advised to park in the signposted Park and Ride car park off Junction 45 of the M4 at a cost of £5 per vehicle. Shuttle buses will take supporters to and from the stadium. About 3 miles from J45.
