'Division 1'

Recommended Posts

Most of the current writings on here continually talk about our relegation to "division one". Hopefully this won''t come across as too pedantic but it''s not actually Division One, it''s League One. Division One is what the Championship used to be. The rebranding of the football league has handily made it seem like we''re about to be relegated into the best league in England but, alas, this is not the case.

We''re about to head into the third tier of English football, not the second

Lets just rename the championship " Premiere league division Two " and league one " The Championship " then maybe we will all feel a bit better.......nah...stupid idea.

I don''t care what the current brand name is.  What we''re heading for is the Third Division!  We can look forward to all the joys of the Johnson''s Paint Trophy and having to play the first two rounds of the FA Cup.  Perhaps if we''re seriously struggling financially we could go semi-professional in an effort to reduce the wage bill.  That would, of course, be prudent in the long term as it would put us on a strong footing for when we end up in the Blue Square Conference.

Don''t knock the JPT trophy. When I went Doncaster 3 Bristol Rovers 2. Great game, great day out, and how on earth are we going to get to Wembley otherwise, the league one play off final.....NO, league two playoff final.....possibly, if we still have a club by then ! [;)]
