HappyhammerAndy 0 Posted March 2, 2009 I see more and more, managers going on about how their player''s have to play alot of games in a short time! I don''t understand it, players from the past played loads more games than those of today. They were on terrible pitches that were frequently like a bog in the winter. Nowadays, players get rested and taken off after 70 minutes or whatever. There are 3 subs today as opposed to 1 in days gone by and no "squad rotation". Where are the Gerrards and the like from days gone by, who played 38, or more, league games in a season, but not on pitches that are like bowling greens today. And some people still argue that todays players are not pampered and they are really are real men.Andy
