Weymouth FC Need Your Help

Recommended Posts

I suppose it might be a good thing, another team we might not have to face in a few years time.  Joking aside, good cause.

And there''s now an FA investigation into the betting that went on the game - over a million apparently.

... and their fans earned about a million quids by betting against them. Some of this money could go a long way saving them...

What''s to investigate ?

Nothing illegal appears to have taken place and it''s not the punters fault if the bookies aren''t the sharpest knives in the draw when it comes to non-League football. Presumably if it can be proved that Weymouth FC were in any way involved, ie, placed bets on themselves losing to Rushden & Diamonds then maybe they have a case to answer. It must be against the rules to place such bets.

Let''s hope there''s nothing in it and the bookies got caught on the hop.

I would have been more than happy to donate, but it''s clear from the below statement that it will go into like a holding fund for future use.  So at the moment I will not be donating as it''s not clear what the money would go towards.

Representatives of W.F.C Supporters Club, Terras Trust and W.F.C Youth met after the Mansfield game to discuss the future of the Save Our Club appeal.
Due to uncertainties around the future ownership of the majority shareholding in the club it has been decided that clarification should be made regarding what should be done with any funds raised.

It was decided that S.O.C appeal fund would not be used to offer financial assistance to the club under its current Chairman, furthermore it was also decided that the S.O.C appeal fund would not be used to offer assistance to any future chairman whose ambitions include the merging of Weymouth F.C with any other club.

It is intended that the three groups will continue to work together raising funds under the Save Our Club banner, but that these funds should remain temporarily untapped in the hope that the next owner(s) of Weymouth F.C have the well-being of the football club as their primary interest.

Should the majority shareholding go to someone who is considered not to have the clubs best interests at heart, then a further decision will be made as to how the funds could be best used in any attempt to Save Our Club.
Weymouth FC face going into liquidation & possible expulsion from the blue square premier league with debts of £300k.http://www.saveourclub.co.uk/
May sound like a silly question but we are currently bemoaning the lack of a reserve games for our reserves - why not loan them as many of our players as we can? So what if there is nothing financial in it for us - at least our players would be getting games, especially some of the youngsters who wouldn''t otherwise be considered for first team action.

Would be good to give some of the youngsters some experience

Sorry about their problems but I''m afraid we have our own crisis and charity begins at home - a concept lost in the midsts of time in our society.

Have you read Ian Ridley''s "Floodlit Dreams"? - all about his takeover and brief control of Weymouth.  If you haven''t, I can tell you it doesn''t exactly make you go rushing for the cheque book

Tipped in the Racing Post on Saturday morning. 15/8 for a Diamonds win was available early but soon went. Suggested at 7/5.
