Sheffield uni Canary 0 Posted February 4, 2009 Anyone else see this. Luton made a bid for both of them on a permenant basis, does this mean Gunny thinks they could be in the first team picture next season??http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,1781_4894603,00.html

O.T.B.C 0 Posted February 4, 2009 None of them would have made a blind bit of difference in my eyes, doing ok, not well but ok at the lowest level in professional football, they would have done much better than the ones we had. I would have loved them to.

I refuse to believe that our Board turned down an opportunity to cash in on an NCFC player.
Branston Pickle 3,598 Posted February 4, 2009 To be fair to Roeder I think he saw two guys with potential that could maybe be brought out by a spell at Luton, and probably had no intention of letting them stay there. We should probably have had an option of a recall (if possible - am not sure about the ins and outs of a season long loan), but tbh I can''t really see us having used either of them that much this season. O.T.B.C 0 Posted February 4, 2009 We did have an option to recall him but he chose not to.
Destort 0 Posted February 4, 2009 There is also the fact that Luton have no money whatsoever, it''s just as likely that they didnot meet City''s valuation.
SWP = Poor Mans Ruel Fox!! 0 Posted February 4, 2009 Also we do have to look at if the worst scenario happens and we do get relegated, these are two young players who could do a job in that division when we sell anyone else who has a value.
GJP 79 Posted February 4, 2009 Wouldn''t be surprised if they both wanted to leave Norwich in the summer, or at least go out on loan. They must be enjoying playing regular first team football and they''ll know they''re not likely to get that here (neither of them look up to regular first team action at this level). Martin certainly looked up to Champs level when he first broke through into the side - in fact weren''t Man U interested, hence quickly getting him to sign a lengthy contract with us! Spillane has always looked like he has potential. If we let them go they could both do well for another Championship side. Last night''s game showed the benefits of having a big squad, so competition for places is always good. Martin''s attitude is the one thing we need to be sure of, although Spillane has always worked hard and we''re always short of centre backs.

They should be playing regular first team, which they are. I''d be very surprised if the management team looked at those 2 players and thought they were likely to be enough to feature on a regular basis for us. Martin has got a bit about him but he''s still got a long way to go and Spillane is nothing special. But then we do have a habit of over-hyping and overrating our youngsters.
