Ian 1,211 Posted January 30, 2009 How many times does say, Croft beat his man compared to someone like David Beckham? Perhaps an unfair comparison, but just goes to show...
GMF 1,010 Posted January 30, 2009 Can''t say I''m overly disappointed he''s gone. He always looked out of place on the left and always wanted to come back inside on too many occasions, when all you wanted him to do, time and time again, was hit a cross in first time. He often didn''t look 100% fit and didn''t always look as if he was up to the Championship pace. More often than not he played just "alright" and there never seemed to be a great understanding between him and Plastic down the left in comparison to Semmy / Omozusi and Crofty on the right. Can you imagine the uproar if Gunny had said, "yes, we''re looking to sell someone." Additionally, we don''t know if a price had actually been finalised with Coventry at the time the comment was made, so, maybe, just maybe, this was nothing more than a public negotiating position? Then, having done the deal, do you think it would be wise to publically come out and say something like, "we got £X00,000 for Bell, especially if we''re actually in for another player at another club. His price would almost certainly go up on such news, so why show your hand?
