Beauseant 0 Posted January 29, 2009 I understand that Chris Lakey has won the EDF Energy East Anglian Sports Writer of the Year award. Given some of the stick that he''s had on this forum, I would like to congratulate him. I always enjoy reading his column and his mauling of Mr Roeder was great stuff! Bury Yellow 2 Posted January 29, 2009 I add my congratulations to Mr Lakey. He is a damn good journalist and his video reports (a difficult thing to do) are excellent.

How journalists used to be, dammit...

However, you are absolutely right about the dishevelled look!Decent taste in music too. He was on Chris Goreham''s show before Tuesday''s game and picked I fought the law by the Clash and This is not a love song by Public Image as two of his four favourite songs. Of course, you youngsters wouldn''t remember that sort of stuff!

Back to college for the lad I say, he obviously needs re-training ! He''ll never get on in the red-tops being trustworthy...

He is a damn good journalist and his video reports (a difficult thing to do) are excellent [/quote]You are kidding aren''t you? What exactly is the point of those video reports!? When i first saw them i thought they might show something interesting - some shots of the team or something. It''s just him sitting at his desk reading his own schpiel. It''s not as if he''s a great orator either. He''s a writer for a good reason. He''s no speaker! What do you get from the video reports that you don''t get from reading his written reports on the site? Apart from his lovely mug!

gazzathegreat 0 Posted January 29, 2009 Beau, what a shame I missed the bit on R Norfolk before the game, yes, what a great taste in music!! I will second that.I have liked most of Chris'' columns and match reports - he''s developed into a good journalist. He certainly was able to be critical of the former regime at CR. Shall look forward to more in depth stuff re the direction the club is going in for the rest of the season.

Camuldonum 0 Posted January 29, 2009 He certainly was able to be critical of the former regime at CR. But not while the former regime was present. I blame Archant myself.[;)]

Camuldonum 0 Posted January 30, 2009 I''ll repeat the question. Why didn''t Lakey write his thoughts on Roeder BEFORE he was sacked?Answers on a postcard to................Lakey ambles about, does what he is told. That is one aspect of journalism but many get bored with it after a while. He obviously hasn''t.
