OT (sort of) Chris Lakey wins award

Recommended Posts

I understand that Chris Lakey has won the EDF Energy East Anglian Sports Writer of the Year award. Given some of the stick that he''s had on this forum, I would like to congratulate him. I always enjoy reading his column and his mauling of Mr Roeder was great stuff!
He''s expected to win that one, is Dick, but he''ll be pushed close by David Cuffley...Lakey''s a proper journo in my eyes - slightly dishevelled and unkempt and probably not slept in 20 years due to a coffee overdose! How journalists used to be, dammit...

Having had Chris covering the team I used to manage I would have to say that the great thing about him is that he actually quotes what you say, not his interpretation of it, making him extremely trustworthy. However, you are absolutely right about the dishevelled look!

Decent taste in music too. He was on Chris Goreham''s show before Tuesday''s game and picked I fought the law by the Clash and This is not a love song by Public Image as two of his four favourite songs. Of course, you youngsters wouldn''t remember that sort of stuff!
I add my congratulations to Mr Lakey. He is a damn good journalist and his video reports (a difficult thing to do) are excellent
You are kidding aren''t you? What exactly is the point of those video reports!? When i first saw them i thought they might show something interesting - some shots of the team or something. It''s just him sitting at his desk reading his own schpiel. It''s not as if he''s a great orator either. He''s a writer for a good reason. He''s no speaker! What do you get from the video reports that you don''t get from reading his written reports on the site? Apart from his lovely mug!

Beau, what a shame I missed the bit on R Norfolk before the game, yes, what a great taste in music!! I will second that.

I have liked most of Chris'' columns and match reports - he''s developed into a good journalist. He certainly was able to be critical of the former regime at CR. Shall look forward to more in depth stuff re the direction the club is going in for the rest of the season.

He certainly was able to be critical of the former regime at CR.

But not while the former regime was present.  I blame Archant myself.[;)]

There were some underlying digs though.  Never gave the impression that he genuinely liked Roeder.

I''m pleased for him, love his column and he seems like one of the nice guys. Can''t think of anyone who has given him stick on here, well other than our resident journalist [:)]

I''ll repeat the question.  Why didn''t Lakey write his thoughts on Roeder BEFORE he was sacked?

Answers on a postcard to................

Lakey ambles about, does what he is told.  That is one aspect of journalism but many get bored with it after a while.

He obviously hasn''t.

Without being too unkind to Chris Lakey, these local awards don''t involve too much competition, do they?
