Is there a guy called Walrus?
I know the fella well, he was in the armed forces with my son years back.

Never heard of Walrus... I do know the names of some though (knicknames again)... on defo belonged to NHS as far as I know.

The other has prob been involved with some of the names you mentioned and was involved with the trouble that happened at Leicester last season Arto.

Would I mess with any of them?

Not unless I knew that I was quick enough and had easy access to flee the scene very quickly.... [;)]

I know a few lads who got arrested for the Leicester thing from the Coachmakers and from my son who drinks in the murderers. Nice lads if you get to know them and you wouldn''t think they would be into that sort of thing, but nowt queer as folk as they say.Thing is most of them have good jobs and families which i find very bizarre thing to be doing if they''ve ''settled down''. I suppose its always in you.

i know quite a few who got arrested at leicester, some have got a ban now. it is definately not worth getting in any trouble at football these days.

believe me the norwich factions are still around, still get police escorts but rarely cause trouble. and most are 40+.

quite simple nowadays..... DISORDER = BAN

Nobody has mentioned the steins in all of this, I knew 1 or 2 of them and even though I never got involved I remember seeing them have a few rucks and one in particular on the pitch in front of the river end after we''d just beat Spuds in a cup game in the early eighties. Not sure whether they''d be on a par with the guys from the seventies though.

To be honest i have nothing against these people following city as long as they dont go ''''looking for it'''' and drag our name through mud, i mean how many times would it of been handy if these lads were at Wolves or Hull to name a couple when innocent families were getting bother of hoodlums? In an ideal world we wouldn''t need to bother but unfortunately its still around and even im to old to give a clip round the lugs these days! [not to say there wasn''t a time when i couldn''t ok you young''uns [;)]]

years ago when Panorama profiled the Millwall gangs, one of the Millwall fans recalled going to Norwich and his mob being attacked and chased over the railway lines by City yobs.

So yes there have always been thugs here

the nostalgic romanticising of football hooliganism started probably by the Brimsons, and a few film of the last decade, makes me want to vomit.

I''m sure there are a few Fengibbons who go to our games looking for violence..hopefully evolution will get rid of this gene over time.

Conscription is probably the answer
Actually the 1st books were by Jay Allan { Bloody casuals }, and Colin Ward { Steaming in }. The Brimson brothers Douglus and Edward are a joke and mocked around those involved in the hooligan world. Yes I do know about this sort of thing as many of you are aware my son was involved for a while and was deported from an England game for which I doisowned him for a while. Im happy to say hes come out the other end a better person after getting it out of his system. Approve or not it happens, you just dont get the same publicity as you would have in the 70s and 80s. As for people assuming teams like Millwall and Chelsea are the worst and teams like Norwich and as someone else mentioned Hull are a joke-you read too many papers. Ive seen the old norwich boys see off Millwall, West Ham, Chelsea etc, dont believe the hype given to these "firms". Im not defending them, but in all my years ive seen trouble following Norwich, ive seen many a so called notorious firm sent running from little old family club Norwichs minority. Oh and there have been many firms from The Steins to The Norwich Hit Squad, but The Steins were very well respected and used to spray Steins R Go all over the place, still visible in some areas to this day.

According to my son Norwich had and have a bit of rivlary with QPR, but apparently QPR are a joke these days. He says Tottenham are the main firm these days.

I have to deal with the Tottenham scum on a regular basis too. There is a new problem with the new younger lads trying to get involved, we have lots on our radar, infact more than the usual 20-20''s range.

Oh I can''t wait for Arsenal V Spuds match next week. Not!

Must of been for a lesser charge because the main lot are due in march, 12 of them i believe and half a dozen Leicester. It will be pretty big news at both local ends and maybe national due to the police investigation that resulted in a good few bob of tax payers money being wasted on what I''ve heard was a little more than a tit for tat in leicester city.

Sure is, the Cardif match was ''fun'' too, hope they don''t promoted. But generally the bigger the game and uglier the opposition, then the more levels of policing involved and thus less trouble.

I agree, the likes of West Ham and Chelsea have calmed down abit but Tottenham apprantly have several large firms who go out looking for trouble at games, so it''s wise to keep your head down if you ever happen to be at the footy in North London, as i''m lead to believe that they have there fair share of scummy fans.

As for Norwich I''ve been told by a few people that Norwich have a smallish firm of middle aged men, the stories and numbers vary from person to person so it''s hard to understand what is true and what''s bull, as some people claim there numbers vary from 40-50 while others claim it''s 15-20.

spot on... what makes me laugh is that those gloryfiying holliganism by writing the books/,aking the films are now fat old men, who can barely move yet alone fight with someone.. they are trying to cling to a youth left far behind because they have nothing in their lives now... kind of sad and pathetic really isn''t it?

But do we moan about classic films like Goodfellas, the Godfather, Donnie Brasco, Scarface etc? Do we see nothing wrong in making films about the mafia etc torturing and murdering, yet we rant and rave about a hooligan film or book? Just answer me this before people slate football hooligan films.....did you think The Godfather, goodfellas etc were good films?

the thing is it cant be just the old hooligans watching these films as they would not be the success they are, the thing is the public are fascinated by bad guys and crime, look at the Krays and the following they had. The football violance days have gone, never to return but it does not stop people talking or wanting to learn about it.rightly or wrongly.

You are right Ricky.I know of many people, myself included, that have never been involved in football violence, and never would be,but enjoy reading or watching stuff about the hooligan past.It is not about glorifying it, but just a morbid fascination, probably because it is so different to what we are like.I am sure a psychologist could find a good reason why we are fascinated!

Slightly off topic, but the best i have read on this subject is John Kings ''Football Factory'' trilogy.Haven''t bothered with the film!

Rotherham used to have a notorious firm in the 1980s.

When we went up there for a cup game a couple of years ago, some of our fans started singing "Let''s be ''avin you, come on!" a la Delia to encourage the team.  This was misinterpreted by a group of ageing Rotherham hooligans who thought it was an invitation to a punch up.  [:D]

Its a post about oxygen thieves who get thier kicks being violent, thier idea of fun was responsible for English clubs being banned in Europe, a ban that damaged NCFC.

Arthur, now that we''ve established that you do have some respect for your wife I think you should stop boasting about deceiving her, after all she''s the one who''ll have to explain to your grandchildren that grandpa is no longer around because he wouldn''t listen to a simple instruction that would help prolong his life.
