I dont think Smudger is happy with City''s decline, I think he takes great delight in proving some on here wrong. There are people on here who are very patronising, who think if your dare to criticise, you are a binner and whatever the board or manager do is 100 per cent right at all times wear yellow and green tinted glasses, fail to see our club is in massive decline and if they do make silly excuses for it.

I would rather ten smudgers than some of the patronising, happy clapping, Delia is wonderful, we are the real supporters, everything is wonderful at carrow road brigade. If we were in the conference they would still be saying, give it time, the new manager will get it right, our new signing from Dereham is world class, Delia saved us. numpties.

Smudger and many others said, Grant was crap from the get go, proven right. his signings were''nt up to it proven right. Roeder wrong choice, again right, said relegation was on the cards, stayed up by one win, ctiticised his loan dealings and buys, proven right by the fact we are still struggling. Gunn jury is out but his signings are not nothing to excite, jury out. So where is Smudger so wrong apart from speaking his mind, most things i agree with, I just hope Gunn does get it right.
Agreed Ricky, Smudger has been correct about many issues or near as damn it!.

I hope that Gunn gets it right but have my reservations like many others, as regards the new signing who knows as they have''nt pulled on a shirt yet but if they are such fantastic players why have theier exsisting clubs let them go.....

Chris Killen - Hardly prolific in his time in England!?. granted he scored goals for Hibs but am sure most people could score in the Noddy league?!

Alan Gow - Probably the best signing, but again from the Noddy league!. Did well in his short time at Blackpool, but this is possibly his biggest challenge in his career.....

Cody MacDonald - Certainly worth a punt and nothing against that but with the position we are in we should have bought in an experienced striker, twin that with letting Lupoli go who is capable of scoring goals at this level a big gamble...

Adrian Leijer - Another gamble never played a single game in England......

Twin that with Gunns appointment the board ato a certain degree are playing "Russian Roulette" with the clubs future and trul shows how skint we are!

So back to the original post, I believe Smudger does have some valid points....

I remember seeing a documentory about the ancient Cambodian temples once and how some theorist had this far flung theory that they were replicas of the constellations - he drew a picture of the temples and their positions which indeed looked like they mimicked the constellations. However when taken to other specialists they displayed a real map with ALL of the temples and essentially it was just a mass of dots - it was like an open dot-the-dot with limitless ways inwhich you could draw shapes etc. One archeologist even drew a smiley face using it.My point? Some people will manipulate things to their own theories and ignore the overbearing facts that mount against them. Smudger seems to be one of these people but I personaly think its just a big game to him. It''s not really about the club its about people massaging his ego and for some strange reason the more people that disagree with him the more he feels his position is correct.Strangely he makes an analogy of those that oppose his beliefs of being "sheep". However in that analogy it is not clear what his role is, is he the Wolf? The Shepherd?Yet where others have allowed their opinion to sway - Citizen Journalist Foghorn persuading me to back the Worthy Out theory is one such example - Smudger informs us that he has wanted rid of the board since before promotion to the premiership.Having said all of that why the hell do we give him his own thread? And why am I joining in on it? Maybe I am a sheep - or maybe I am just another slightly annoyed poster on this forum who is fed up with the limitless insults to our intelligence that he directs at us whilst never providing any weight to his arguments.May I make a bold prediction? When Delia and MWJ do finally relinquish their majority share holdings - Smudger will claim that it was he that lead the movement against them and that it is all his hard work that has led to them departing.

"To Smudger"

I’ve been in correspondence for a while now with the editors at the Oxford University Press over a suitable definition for “to Smudger”. I can tell you this has not been easy; boy, are they sticklers for accuracy! But you can see their point. The Oxford English Dictionary is THE definitive guide to the language. Alien beings in far-flung corners of the universe rely on it. I finally tried this:

”To Smudger”. Generally, to criticise everything to do with a football club.  Specifically, to make endless negative predictions about all aspects of the club so that when one of those predictions comes true then you can gleefully point to that single accurate remark and hope no-one remembers the dozens of other totally fallacious forecasts that accompanied it.”

Now, the editors at the OUP were still not convinced – they said no-one would indulge in such a scattergun approach. It wasn''t mature. It would have no credibility. So I emailed them this from yesterday:

None of the players we have bought in will prove to be an improvement on what we already have and so there for are a complete WASTE OF MONEY.”

I got this back from the OUP:

”So let’s get this straight. If Leijer, Killen, Carney and Gow all turn out to be good acquisitions and save Norwich from relegation, but McDonald gets sent back to non-league football, Smudger will claim he was right all along because he rubbished McDonald?”

Congratulations, I replied, you’ve just Smudgered! And they caved in. The next edition of the dictionary will immortalise Smudger. He will live on in the language!

The last couple of seasons we have been in the same position fighting relegation, missing out by one win last year, players brought in are supposed to be better than you have to push you up the league, in that, Grant and Roeder failed. with Gunn the jury is out but do you see his new players making a massive difference, i hope so but they dont excite me.

smudger is so wrong cos he takes such obvious delight in it when they go tits up ,thats surely  not what supporting your team is about? its the easy option to be negative all the time not the hard option, unless your man united everything goes wrong eventually so your always going to be right at some point, as they say even a broken clock is right twice a day
He is just trying to provoke people into a reaction and I believe he is not happy with the club going "tits up" as you put it!. Sometimes he goes over the top but he wants this club to succeed as much as the next man, and lets face FACTS that the club over the past four seasons is failing miserably!

In 5mins be against the new board and blaming them for..........

A simple answer is to get the club to give him the contract for some printing work. Lest see if

1. He refuses to do it

2. Do it for nothing to help the club

3. Stop critisizing the people who are giving him money.

Read this messageboard every day - almost never post.  This is the most entertaining thread for a long time - the Real Norwich remark and the ''to Smudger'' definition both brilliant!

Have worked hard to eradicate the Norfolk pessimism that seemed to surround me in the much loved place of my birth - only to be confronted with it on a daily basis on the Pink Un messageboard.  Pessimistic posts must outnumber optimistic posts by about 70/30.  Of course we can spend hours speculating whether Gunny''s new guys will be successful - truth is - we don''t know - surely the joy/excitement/intrigue is in the finding out.  Seems to me we need new heroes right now.  From observation though I would agree that the joy(?) for a lot of posters is in the ''I told you so!''

As for Smudger - the topic of this thread - I don''t take him seriously - do you?  His tongue is firmly in his cheek, I''d say, for much of the time.  He''s brilliant at winding people up though!

Lets face it love him or loathe him (I think most would side with the latter!) Smudger is a Pink Un forum leg end!

I agree with him that the board need replacing as would many but its not as easy as he seems think it is and Delia Smith is not the evil conspricist Smudger makes her out to be!

What Smudger fails to acknowlege is the fact that Delia and CO are fans like we all are (except Smudger himself apparently!?) they only want ther best for the club and they too know that they need replacing. Oh and the fact that it isn''t an easy job and things don''t work out as planned!

The fact that Smudger doesn''t even go to Norwich games says it all for me!

I''d seriously doubt whether the guys ever been content with Norwich City FC and whatever is done is wrong, done with the wrong intentions and the grass is greener elsewhere!

Whiltst I agree with his desire to see the board removed, all the other rubbish he sprouts makes him a joke character in my opinion!

Long live Smudger!

Like each one of us he''s entitled to his views and opinions.  Some points he has made I have agreed with in the past and some I have disagreed with.

Occasionally he makes some very interesting posts.

Agree or not agree, does it really matter, he is one person with an opinion on a message board in cyber land.

Supporters like you consistently backing a failing regime and taking NCFC to new depths which will ultimately take them many years to recover from (if they ever do).

No wonder he wanted out, he was sat at the side of the pitch watching Wes Hoolhan, and Jamie Cureton play infornt of him.

No wonder is confidence was low when Roeder and even Gunn played Rusty up front instead of him.

He could have been an absolute class act for us.
What? like having a strop because Clingan took a penalty instead of him?............good riddence.
It wasnt just that was it, lets be fair he''s different calibre to the players on the park for us week in week out.

for 6 months he''s had to watch Hooli go round in circles with his left foot, tread on the ball, mis-place 5 yard passes, get blown over by a gust of wind and stop mid-game to clean a bit of mud off his white boots.

He should have been the first name on the team sheet!
hahaha I don''t half like your explanation of what you see when you watch Hoolihan play... I thought I was the only one who could see it... [:D]
Seriously though, he should be banned from this website, in another thread he is calling someone a to$$er, and basically criticizing every Norwich fan, its obviously killing him that Norwich haven''t lost under Gunn yet, so he has turned abusive!!

Oh yes it is really killing me... like I only have to wait another 2 hours to see that happen... [:$] [:D]

I pride myself on my ability to change my mind, I would hate to be inflexible. Okay, somethings remain constant with me ie. the board, Smith, Curo etc, but if I''m wrong on other matters, I''ll spot it, and admit to it.

To carry on saying things when in your heart you know you''re wrong, is shameful and dishonest![:|]

Yes but then again you have always been a bit flipperty, flopperty haven''t you WIZ???

I have been right all along and I thing it is so funny that so many of you are being made total mugs of year after year after year... [:D]

So who exactly are .." the likes of you?"... bearing in mind you have no idea who I am, where I`m from, what my views on the team/board/management are??

I`ll stand by for another generalisation...............

You see, Cludgie, this is where most of the stuff you post falls down. It`s based on your perception of the world, and, while you are most welcome to hold whatever view you want on any subject you want, you can`t tell me or anyone else what or how to think....much as you`d like to!
