Aftermath of a penalty given for a foul by Jarvis - all Norwich affair this.[;)]

Luton fans don''t mind Martin''s football but say his "mouth" is always going to get him into trouble.

Sounds very much like a younger Wayne Rooney, maybe if he gets back to Norwich we can sit him down and calm him and his mouth so we can get the best out of him like Sir Alex did.

Not a good day for Luton - the referee was pelted and had to be escorted off holding a football in front of his face.  The League won''t like that.  [+o(]

Roeder got a lot of things wrong but sending that lazy overweight overated  bighead to Luton was not one of them.........however I think Spillian may turn out to be ok

Very true.  But I don''t see many of them staying around for the delights of the Blue Square Conference..........

Henderson will as he will finally have found his level. Martin is contracted here for another year, Spillane is a championship player in my view, Jarvis will go to another league 1 or 2 side and as for McVeigh, who knows? Aother of the wasted talents that football is awash with - shame really.

Hard to argue with that analysis but I honestly don''t think Martin is a Championship player.  And I do think there is an attitude problem on and off the pitch.  Not sure big cuddly Mr Gunn can cure that but who knows?

I like Mr McVeigh as a person very much.  Dead straight and honest football.  If they go down (which I think they will) I supect he will either go with them or pack it in.

His interview this season when cash strapped Luton tried (unsuccessfully) to offload him off the wage bill was wonderfully honest.

"The club have tried to offer me for sale because of the financial difficulties and I''m very happy to play for anyone who wants me to play.  Unfortunately, the club tell me they have not received a single call about me and so I''ll continue to do my best if Luton want me to play for them."

No 28 in the squad and not even on the bench today.

If you don''t hit it off with Harford you are dead and gone.  Remind you lot in Norwich of anyone?

I am NOT a Colchester fan of Harford in case it is unclear.  I believe him an Assistant Manager and no more at the very best.

I always liked McVeigh and think on his day he was one of the better players seen here in the last 10 years. Sadly, he just didn''t seem to be bothered for much of his final 3 years here. I am a little surprised that no-one else will take a punt on him.

As for Martin, he looked the part during his first dozen or so games here but once he got his 3 year contract he seemed to lose interest. The decision to send him out on loan was one of the few Roeder got right. He has knocked in a few goals at Luton but you would have expected a proper bona fide championship striker to have knocked in 20 odd goals already no matter who he is playing for!

I do not think Martin is going to make it at your level, either football or attitude wise or both.[:P]

Hopefully he will prove me wrong or not, as the case may be.

Nah, he had a slight chance, he blew it.

Him and Spillane are at their level. Neither will ever be good enough to play at this level regularly.

You''d have thought that if Martin was going to make it he should have kicked-on by now...and 7 goals in 28 starts (incl Cups) at League 2 level is not really what you''d have in mind.   But you never know - he might sort himself out and get back on track, things like that do happen occasionally.

Meanwhile, I always rated Spillane and was surprised we didn''t play him more.  I''d be more than happy for both of these lads to come back and be good first-teamers next season, but would imagine Spillane is the more likely of the two, if either of them were to manage it.

I think Martin is one of these players who may has the attitude that requires him to be pushed hard to get the best out of him. I think he sees league 2 as being bellow his ability and so doesn''t exert himself as much as he should. Put him in the championship again and he may just get the bit between his teeth. In some ways I feel for him because we had one manager who rated him and played him and kept us up with him in the team on a regular basis, then he gets this big contract (too big - two year with an option would have been good) on a regular''s wage and then gets dropped altogether and then the new manager throws a paddy and sends him and a bunch of other youngsters off or even out.If anyone can get the best out of him it will be Gunn. I say that because if Gunn can not encourage him to remember his roots, play with his heart and not his attitude then no one will.Spillaine has got to be given more of a chance - I think he is capable at this level and just needs to be given the support.

I recently watched the highlights of the Play-Off and Promotion season for the first time in a long while, and had genuinely forgotten how good McVeigh was.  He could play out wide and up front.  He was skilful on the ball, scored spectacular goals, and got a suprising amount with his head - incredible considering his size and the amount of big lads the championship possesses.  Yet he seemed to be fizzling out around the age of 27 when he still had plenty to offer.

I''m not convinced Martin will come back here.  Spillane perhaps, but it could depend on what division we''re in...
