First goal yesterday

Was I the only one yesterday that thought, from my viewpoint in the lower Barclay, that Curo had scored the first goal and that the announcer had made a mistake in announcing Wes as the scorer.It was also strange that the Barclay started chanting Jamie''s name after the first goal.Could be that Wes''s new haircut made him look like Curo from a distance.

Agree - thought they looked very alike and wasn''t sure who had scored til saw the no. 14 run off celebrating.

Looks like some need a trip to the optician!  I clearly saw - with my new specs on! - that it was Hoolahan, from my position in the upper barclay....so was wondering quite why people were chanting for Curo. 

[I also reasoned that Curo doesn''t normally have that good a touch to have taken it on so well and may well have missed the close-angle shot, too!!]

Poor Wes.  He finally scores and half the ground didn''t notice!  I was in the Snakepit and everybody where I was thought Curo had scored, hence the "Oh Jamie Jamie" song.  My excuse is that they look rather alike from a distance.

The way he rounded the keeper was the give away it was Wes. But there were a few times during the game I was getting them confused, similar stature, similar hair and the same yellow under-shirt things.

I was in the lower barclay too, there was mass confusion indeed!! One of the guys who sits behind me was utterly ecstatic for one minute as he thought his bet was going to come off!! He had it down for Cureton.......Wes, you messed his bet up!! Brilliantly taken goal though, we were all pretty happy for him.

Likewise, the guy next to me had Curo too.   I bet plenty of people were momentarily ready to get the beers in!

my friends dad was on to win £100 if Curo was first scorer so when the goal went in he was ecstatic to say the least! But when the goalscorer was announced his face was a picture!!

I knew it was Hoolahan simply cause he took the ball past the keeper with his left foot and Cureton can''t kick with his leftie!

 

Although I''ll agree they did look very similar from a distance!
