Where do you see us in a few years time?

Recommended Posts

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere...

Assuming we survive in the champ this season, where do you think the club will be further along the line?

Is it too much to assume that our new manager will be someone who is

good for us in the long term, and as well as guiding us to safety takes

us slowly back up the league and transforms us into a squad at least

challenging for promotion/play-offs?  Given the current financial

climate, it is unlikely any substantial investment will be forthcoming

within a season or two...and so I''m not expecting us to win the league

next season.  But if, for example, we spent the next year or two

re-grouping and building a squad of hard working players who can do a

good job at this level (ie cheap!) and bringing some youth talent

through (seems the youth squad has potential at the mo), I personally

believe that we stand a reasonable chance of challenging within a few

seasons - or at least have as much chance as anyone else.

Maybe I''m being far too optimistic, and I fully expect to be shot to

pieces when people read this...but perhaps there is a glimmer of hope

around the corner? Any views?!

i think it really depends on the who the board bring in .

yet again a new manager no doubt , would want to field his own team again , hopefully with fewer loan players

lets just hope they bring in , and pay for someone with some quality , and proven .

and who can relate to the players , time will tell .

if its boothroyd , me for one would be chuffed to bits .

I think that we shall be a middle to upper team in division one for a few years, like Leeds and Forest. There seems little real talent coming through from the academy, apart from the keepers, we have no money and we are likely to lose our best players if we are relegated (- they will want to go and the Board will want to reduce the accumulated debt.)Of course, it might be different if the new manager makes the team play as they can, we avoid any more injuries, and some cash is found. Whatever happens, I can''t see us being a serious challenger for promotion to the Premiership for several years. On balance, I think that relegation is the most likely result this year, with such a small squad and no strikers. The next few weeks will produce strength-sapping conditions, and tiredness and injuries are likely to see one or more youth team players playing.
